A 43-year-old man died after the car in which he was a passenger ran off Interstate 95 and hit a tree early Wednesday, authorities said.

Bro. Markus was a great father, husband and friend he will be greatly missed. I pray for the full recovery of his wife and daughter and for strength for his to sons. He will be forever remembered as a fierce competitor on the football field and in track and field as he was dominant force on a track team that won 3 consecutive MSA track championships in Baltimore under the legendary coach Jim Ward.

Mr. Markus was like my uncle. He used to try and convinc us that he was the mayor of Jamaica. He used the accent and everythig. And even though I was old enough to know he was playing, there was still a bit of doubt in my mind like, "Maybe he is the mayor." I will always remember him. We love you and miss you. I had the great opportunity to work with Brother Marcus for a short period of time in the late 1990's. I will never forget the conversations we had on everything, race, destiny, family and faith. I am so saddend to learn of his passing and pray for his lovely wife and daughter. I miss you already.
