This was a very foolish decision on the part of Cass Lake.

Not as foolish as what the Leech Lake RTC is doing. They have slashed a half million from their funding to the college in Cass Lake, cut 900,000 from housing, and on and on.
It's almost like this new tribal administration wants their people to fail. Sad, really. |

Well any new administration that comes in, has to deal with the mess of the old. Everyone knows that. I don't see Archie and Bongo trying to rub elbows with the Governor, or any other unnecessary entity that has absolutely NOTHING GOOD to do for the tribe. Let's think back to what the Goggleye administration was up to just two short years ago. They were jumping on a bandwagon of empty promises that was a sad Deja Vu of what our people were put through way back when...empty promises from the government!!! And they were willing to turn their backs on their own brothers to try to run after the white mans gold! But Thank God Archie was there to vote no to the greedy proposition! Not being wooed and cooed and wined and dined and flown around on the Governors private plane!! Oh and hello let's get to the real needs of the people here! anyone can get college grants and student loans if they really want to make something of themselves! They do not have to rely on a free education to get somewhere in life! Does the new administration have to spell it out?
What did George Goggleye ever do for the boys in his boat after it started sinking? he made sure his greedy a.. approved HIS and MICKs severance and future pay, retirement and whatever else. But left his so called "friends" and team leaders high and dry and went off sulking somewhere in the woods! Noone heard from him for weeks! They STILL have not heard from him! He is busy hiding away from child support and his baby mama, probably munching down at Perkins every day, and night.. I am quite sure the new administration knows what they are doing.. Yes changes are here! One might have to get off their a.. and work a little to meet them halfway, but at least Archie cares truly for his people, his family and takes care of HIS children!!!! |

Oh - and also, the band's funding to the college doesn't provide a "free education" to anyone, it provides just enough to keep the college running for the 250 students there.
If you don't know anything about the tribal college movement and why it's so important on Leech Lake and all the other reservations hosting colleges, go to the AIHEC website or the American Indian College Fund website and do a little research. The time I spent working at Salish Kootenai Tribal College was an eye opener for me. Like I said in the other thread, what makes you think the new administration knows what they're doing? I think Archie at least has his heart in the right place, but Bongo is running the show and Archie won't stand up to him. You elect uneducated people, you get uneducated decisions, simple as that. I just hope Archie and Ribs put Bongo in his place before he screws everything up for all Leech Lakers. Funding a day labor program, but not funding the college the band created for its people...yeah, I'm real sure they know what they're doing. |

I'm interested in hearing Dray's ideas on how the new RTC can conceivably cut $6,000,000 - 1/3 of the total budget - without irreparably damaging services to our people (I assume Dray is a Shinob as well).
