Hennepin Canal: Closing date moved back

Dear Mr. Blagojevich,

I caught my first fish with my dad 40 years ago in the Hennepin Canal in the section between Colona and Geneseo and I will never forget that.

I'm 45 now living in Milan right next to the Hennepin Canal and still catching fish much to my enjoyment. It would be a shame to end that for me and all the other fisherman that come out here and fish this canal. Lots of families come to the canal for recreation and enjoyment. There must be something that we can do.

I go out to the canal 1-3 times a week to bike, i see at least 15-20 people on the trail biking, running, or fishing every day i go. It's a shame that we have to get rid of such a friend/family-oriented park for the governor's plane rides from chicago to springfield ($15,000 per day). What a shame to let the governors own selfish needs take away a family-oriented place away from thousands. No wonder why the state's cutting down funding...I'm sure if i spent 15,000 a day flying i would be pretty short on cash.... HERE'S A TIP FOR THE GOVERNOR:IF YOU'D LIKE TO STAY IN OFFICE MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY CUTTING DOWN YOUR PERSONAL FUNDING AND GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THE STATE YOU CLAIM TO LOVE. OTHERWISE WE WILL SAY GOODBYE TO YOU IN 2 YEARS...IT'LL ONLY HELP US...YOUR HURTING US!
