He should of been a female school teacher, he would beat the rap.

i graduated with kevin in '06 and the whole thing is crazy. I always felt he was an immature person, so the fact he was messing with a 12 year old doesn't surprise me all too much. Just grosses me out that he finds someone that young attractive, yet again...he was immature himself. It's horrible that he'll end up in jail for statutory rape, when CLEARLY it was a consentual situation. The girl herself should take some of the blame. I'm sure she knew exactly what she was doing. Girls nowadays try to act grown and it's not okay for their parents to let them get that far to be in a situation like that to begin with.
But once again... kevin should have stuck with girls his own age.

and as far as the headline, rather than "man 19" to make it sound like this dramatic thing... it should be like it really is ... a "19 year old boy"

You are kidding about the 12 yr old taking some of the blame, right? You say rather than "man 19" should be "19 yr old boy" but yet you expect the 12 yr old girl to be an adult.. She isn't even in her teen yrs yet. Lets remember there is 7 year difference.

How about when you are 12 you look at the older kids and adults and think I can't wait til I'm that age. I remember being 12yrs old and guys that where 18 and older up til 28yrs old. What kind of funny is whenever a woman does a crime or some teacher statatory rape thing she proclaims "I was DEPRESSED"! I did it because I was very depressed. Then everyone feels sorry for the woman because afterall 'she was depressed' at the time. Then our depressed female gets off with 6 months probation and 12 hours community service as she becomes the victim. A man does the same crime and you don't see him again for 25 years. There's no 'I was depressed' routine for me. The I am just a girl routine is getting old.

Do you think anyone would care if a 12 year old guy had sex with a 19 year old girl? It probably would not even make the paper. ases like this are never fun. 12 is a little young, though. What I don't get is, if this 12 year old girl wants to shtup a 12 or 13 year old boy, that's okay. But because the guy is 19, he's looking at jail time, registered sex offender stats, etc. No, I don't condone it. 12 year old should NOT be having sex. But this whole "you can't consent to sex if your under 17" crap, come on now. If a 15 year old boy kills someone they charge him as an adult. If that same boy wants to have sex he is a child. I love this argument. People have this idea in their head that we, as a society, accept adult women doing this to children, but we don't. A bunch of guys standing around talking about it might say things like, "I wish I had HER for a teacher when I was in school..." etc.. But the statement is tongue-in-cheek. When caught, the women do serious time just like men. They lose their careers and their standing in their community, just like men.

There is nothing acceptable about adults sleeping with children regardless of whether it is a man or woman or if it "seems like" it was consensual. Try and have a five minute conversation with a 12 year old (boy or girl) and hopefully you'll instantly see how different you are mentally and emotionally from them. The difference between 12 and 19 is huge regardless of how immature the 19 year old may seem. No matter how you slice it, he manipulated a child into having sex with him and he should pay for it.

BTW, 18 is a man according to the law. He's not a "boy" or a kid, he's a man.

He should be jailed for a long time, no doubt. As far as him manipulating her, I don't think he forced her to dance around in her red panties. But thats not the point of the issue. The entire point was most of the teachers that molested the young boys got a slap on the wrist. Other female teachers actually copycatted the crime! Most received zero jailtime, probation and yes they lost their precious teaching license. This boy is not worried about losing social status, he worried about being put in jail for 10-20 years. If you think society does not have a seperate set rules and standards for men and women then you are either naive or stupid. Every time someone is accused of a crime everybody immediately assumes that means they must be guilty. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? This attitude that they're accused therefore they must have done it is destroying our democracy. It's the same twisted logic that allows Bush to detain terrorist suspects without charges. Carry this attitude to its extreme and we would just have no trials at all, because why bother if being accused means you did it. So, people change your attitudes or you're helping to destroy democracy.

That was just an example. My point is that this pervasive attitude that someone is accused of a crime therefore they must have done it is replacing the "innocent until proven guilty" attitude of our founders and it is endangering our democracy.

It all boils down to "who would be interested in reading a story about how much time a female teacher got in jail?" Not many people are interested in a case that involves a female after the verdict has been read. I hate to say it, but its all about the sex appeal. "How much sex appeal does a case have?" depends on how long it'll be followed in the papers. Random yes I know. That 12 year old sounded like she was a little slutty from the beginning.
