It appears they are all above the law, from where I sit. Who knows?

They treat people badly, get away with brutality and inhumane treament of others, yet when they commit an infraction it is hushed. Not fair by a long shot, if you ask me.

It seems that we have more than one bonding company that has a convicted felon employed. How fair is it to let someone that has been convicted of a felony to sign people out of jail, when you are just like them!!!!! Blount County has their priorities crossed. The rules for visitation at the correctional facility are: If you have ever been convicted of a felony or have a felony case pending, you cannot visit anyone that has been incarcerated, but it's ok to sign them out of jail. Go figure!!! It seems like it is the same old thing. It all depends on who you are and who you know. Blount County needs a change, but until the people of Oneonta and all of Blount County stand up and say they are tired of all the underhandedness that goes on here, there will never be a change. It takes more than one person!!

I agree that something needs to be done and people need to stand up and fight for their rights. Anyone that has had trouble needs to contact the ACLU. Remember, everyone answers to someone, even the almighty cops.

JUST MY OPINION, BUT YOU'D THINK THAT THE BLOUNT COUNTY DA (TOMMY ROUNTREE) AND JUDGE KING WERE AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE THE WAY THEY RUN A CORRUPT "RACKET" IN ONEONTA, AL. THE COURT SYSTEM IN THIS COUNTY IS DEFUNCT! THEY OFFER REDICULOUS SENTENCES FOR MENIAL CRIMES--TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF EVERYONE! SINCE THESE TWO MEN SEEM TO BE BEST FRIENDS, THEY "CONTROL" THE AREA'S DEFENSE ATTORNEYS AND IF YOU TRY TO BRING IN AN OUT-OF-AREA ATTORNEY YOU ARE ALMOST GUARANTEED TO BE FOUND GUILTY! THE BLOUNT COUNTY JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS A JOKE!

Yes I would say that there is alot of crap that goes on in Blount County that we as Blount County Residents should put a stop to ! They have a dispatcher that worked at the BP in Snead that was fired for stealing we all know who he is BIG YELLOW CHEVY TRUCK !!!!! And the there is his female cousin and her husband selling drugs to our Susan Moore High School students. We NEED to take our community back, what is this world coming to?

It's not just them. Ashville PD went out of state to hire a police chief. I am sure that there were qualified candidates in the area.

These comments are harsh but unfortuneatly, mostly accurate. I am a fourth generation Blount Countian and moved back here because I thought it was the best county to live in.(Notice past tense of thought.) It is evident that the Judicial system is quite corrupt. However, we the voters can change it! It is election year! Let your voice be heard! We have one of our own running for Sheriff! Tommy Rountree "The people's Lawyer" has at least two opponents in the election. We can break up the alleged marriage between Rountree and King by voting both of them out of office. It is time that we the people take Blount County back! It is a sad commentary, when a wonderful place like Blount County has become so corrupt. It is not "we the people" as our constituion proclaims,at least not in Blount County. It is WE the ELECTED OFFICIALS.

This forum is a joke. Which one of you annomyous numskulls is named Jeremy. Don't think you are fooling anyone. Anyone who truly knows what is going on knows that Rountree and King are like oil and water.

I think its time we got a sheriff that knows the issues in Blount County because he has grown up here and seen how things have changed. Hosey is a much better candidate. Arrington is in Riley's back pocket anyway.

I have watched the jailers in this co. mistreat people who were in there for nothing more than a forgotten trafic ticket or one they thought was taken care of. I watched these so called civil servants taze inmates torment same people w tazzers. It was horrible it is jail yes not a stay at the hyatt but it is also not a dog pound where animals are treated with more respect.I am sorry but a badge doesn't place u above the aw your selves. Even animals have rites or PETA has a fit. Who is going to have a fit for these poor people who are being subject to this disgusting treatment every day? I have never been more ashamed to be among the human race as was the day i wittnesed this behaviour amoung so called protectors of the people.....

DAMN! I wish you hadn't told that! My DAUGHTER is THERE NOW!
She happened to be with a family member when he was picked up, so it was assumed that SHE was also "guilty", just "by association"!

She is such a sweet, gentle, girl that it breaks my heart to think that she is being mistreated!
She's NEVER been in ANY kind of trouble in her life! Being arrested and put in jail, tramatized her to the point that she had to be hospitalized!

I pray that she is not being mistreated or hurt!
