My 20-year-old son and my 16-year-old daughter filled out an application for this summer work program. But because both of their parents work they were denied a chance to work and learn job skills. This really makes me sick as their father works 3 jobs plus goes to kidney dialysis 3 times a week and I work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. Our neighbors, neither parents work and they get section 8 housing, complete medical coverage, food stamps, acts bus takes them to their doctors appointments, Braces for both girls, who mom and dad drives to school 3 blocks, but neither of these girls has applied to this program. Guess they are following their parent’s example and living the FREE ride. I called the phone number on the rejection letter and told the lady how crappy I thought it was. I was told Sorry that is our guidelines. Wow. I told her should I just kick my son out onto the streets so he can get a break from your government programs. We are white working below poverty tax paying

And they wonder why we have drug problems.

Ashtabula way is the Trashtabula way which is the Welfare Way!
Don't you get it? The jobs program was created for the few people that oversee the programs relatives. Mission accomplished. I know of a family living high on the hog, and I mean high on the hog, with new expensive cars, huge house, boats, campers, tractors, four wheelers, and they are on the goverment tit. Everybody is so fooled by this trash from the road show of wealth. Ya, wealth paid for by the citizens. |

Phucked over tax Payer You are so right. I am currently working for a place that has some of these Youth Opportunites working with us. Just found out my bosses are their relatives! Only found this out after I questioned why we were putting up with these LAZY Y.O. workers. Why did they hire them at 4 months pregnant and smoking Pot. Rest of us had to pass drug tests to be hired. Y.O. workers didnt have to pass anything. My Son finally found a job on his own, but my daughter is still trying to find a job. Again they wont help my children because we their parents are hard working, tax paying people. So sick of working to support these lazy pigs.

I know what you mean and I'm fed up with all of them too. |

Please Don't get me started.. I remember a few years back, I was breaking my neck working TWO full-time jobs (and NO medical insurance). I was also a (new) full-time single parent to 4 children. I never seen my children because i was ALWAYS working to make ends meet. A co-worker suggested that I try to get some kind of assistance from the government. So I applied..
I was DENIED because i made $14.00 TOO MUCH a month to qualify.. yep.. fourteen dollars. I was SO disgusted with our system. I couldn't believe it!! But all they taught me after 3 years of my kids not getting proper medical and dental treatment, was to stay within "their" guidelines and my kids can get medical and dental. I shaved 2 hours off my work week, and now i get to spend that time with my kids. |

You sound smart enough to go to Lakeland and get a two year diploma for ONE higher paying job. You are not lazy but public help can become a trap. Once you just make ends meet you can't get out of the trap and nothing will change. The last thing you would want is to become dependant to the point you need a man to help you get back your indendance. It's nice you are enjoying time with your little ones. They grow up so fast and having a mother while growing up is so important. Now if you could quit one job and use the time for school you would, in the end, have an eight hour workday for better money. You really sound like you can do better and I think you will. I think you could get a Pell grant for school so you would not have to pay tuition. |

Nothing against having a husband/boyfriend. I just think women should have the ability to make it alone if they have too. That is impowerment!

Thank You! I agree with everything you said, and yes, I am starting the process of school right now. I heard somewhere that the President is helping "Mom's" go back to school. Guess i'll find out. lol |

Good luck to you on your journey.
