In regards to cancellation of the MARYLAND Seafood Festival, please give me a break. This is Maryland or otherwise known as the SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF THE WORLD and you're telling me that we are not going to have a Seafood Festival this year because you THINK it may not produce revenue. It's damn sad when politicians start cancelling, postponing, terminating, etc good, clean, family fun activities because of what they think may or may not happen. My entire family, from all over the state visits the MARYLAND Seafood Festival and we are all disappointed in the STUPID STUPID STUPID decision. Only low-life politicians would do such a rediculous thing. Obviously they do not have a life!!!! Last years festival was AMAZING. The Rob Byer band played along with Kelly Bell and the food was outstanding, as always, but I guess that's just not good enough for the money hungry, good-for-nothing stupid politicians. For all you STUPID politicians that can't read just ask your mommy to read it for ya'.
p.s. the ROB BYER BAND is AMAZINGA!!!!!!!!!!

This was going to be my first trip to the Seafood Festival (I am from NJ). I am disappointed that it has been cancelled and wonder what the real reason is. I don't believe that it is due to unexpected lower attendance. Give me a break!!
I manage a major association and arrange conventions. Attendance is down due to the economy, but never will we cancel a conference because we expect lower attendance!! That only exasperates the problem and puts the economy in a further decline.
I'll look for something else to do in another state and spend my money there.

I moved from Annapolis to Pennsylvania back in 1998, so for our 10 year anniversary of being away from Maryland, we were going to bring a bunch of our family down for the festival. I cannot believe someone made the decision to cancel the 40+ year old Maryland Seafood Festival. In a down economy when people don't have the money for extravagant trips and vacations, it's these sort of events that give people the chance to have a wonderful mini-vacation in an easy to get to location via car. Is it too late to convince the organizers to change their minds? Can't we get corporate sponsors to raise their donations?

I have made reservations to attend a seafood festival in Rhode Island - maybe the new Seafood Capital of the World. Sorry, Maryland

I just found out about this festival and had just decided to attend when I saw this note.
Cancelling this event is crazy, because lots of people in the NJ/VA/MD/PA area can get to this within an easy day's drive. With the economy the way it is, I bet a lot of people, like me, are looking for day trips. Please reverse this decision!!

If you were planning on attending this event, don't fret. You can still check out the Ultimate Crab Soup Cook-Off on September 6th from 11AM to 6PM at the Navy Stadium in Annapolis. They used to have one at the Maryland Seafood Festival. Try soups and vote for your favorite. Plenty of children's activities, acoustic music, other foods and a "green" village to learn about green products and services. Proceeds will benefit the Lighthouse Shelter (a soup kitchen) and the Weems Creek watershed.

What a bummer. People are looking for something close to home to do. The attendece most likely would have been greater. We were looking forward to taking our grandson for the first time. That was a sorry excuse to cancel. This was one event that was affordable for the whole family.

I was really hoping to take my kids to the seafood festival again this year. Last year was our first time and they really enjoyed it. So sad to see it's been cancelled.
