The US has shown itself to be reluctant to grant emergency status to women who face various kinds of abuse should they return to their countries of origin (FGM in Guinea is apparently one that was NOT considered a sufficient threat to deportee women and girls). Why would anyone believe that it would grant such status to women who are brought here as brides and then abused by their American husbands?
