Full story: The Columbus Dispatch![]()
Abuse victims far outnumber available Ohio safe-house beds, but some advocates say the key to helping them is to arrest more abusers A Dispatch investigation of domestic violence in 2009 found flaws in Ohio laws and policies that created a culture of tolerance.

Judged: 1 You are correct. I always run off at the mouth and once in a while I need my chain yanked. Simple. Or I can control myself and have my house, bills and car paid for by my hard working man while the washing machine washes the clothes and I watch The View. |

Judged: 2 1 http://marthalauragranados.blogspot.com The VAWA Immigration Loophole: This is the story of Martha Laura Granados, an immigrant woman from Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico who abused the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) by pretending to be in love with an American Legal Resident. Martha prostituted herself to him for three years, deceiving him... *** Google: Martha Laura Granados Immigration Prostitute The VAWA Immigration Loop-hole: If you are a woman, pretend to be in love with a US citizen or a Legal Resident, get him to marry you. As soon as you got the marriage certificate dial 211 and falsely accuse him of Domestic Violence and Rape and move to a VAWA shelter. You will be on a fast-track for a Green-Card and US citizenship - all expenses paid for by the US tax payer and as a bonus you will be getting full social benefits. This was from a Topix thread in L.A. |

Well, SK, like many things that are posted on Topix, this one smells suspicious. First off, there are no "fast tracks" to citizenship--or much of anything that has to go through government channels. Everything moves very slowly. Second, on what grounds would green card status be granted (as opposed to denial and deportation)? Any danger to the woman would reside here, rather than the country of origin--which would generally be the circumstance that would move consideration of asylum status. Third, what kind of man goes bride shopping online overseas? Believe it or not, there is a real market for the illusion of submissive wives--leading, one might suppose, to the kind of deal described in this article. The US has shown itself to be reluctant to grant emergency status to women who face various kinds of abuse should they return to their countries of origin (FGM in Guinea is apparently one that was NOT considered a sufficient threat to deportee women and girls). Why would anyone believe that it would grant such status to women who are brought here as brides and then abused by their American husbands? |
