In the case of the narcotics unit Mike Hunt was their boss and could fire them at will. In the case of Judge Carter they (Mike & Barbara) had to use an arrest to force him off the bench since they were not his boss. If there was a strong mutually supportive relationship there, Mike Hunt and Barbara Morgan would have just looked the other way when the allegation was brought to their attention rather than getting SLED involved.

Whereas, in the case of the fired deputies, although they know there is probable cause for arrest warrants, Mike and Barbara have to balance the additional negative impact, media attention and exposure arrests will bring on their already corrupt local system of justice. SLED is just a tool and will do whatever Mike and Barbara tell them to do.

This is also a great, although not very ethical, technique to keep the other magistrates in line with the solicitor. Magistrates like anyone else don't like to be arrested, even for minor alleged infractions of the law. That's why you will rarely see Judge Danny Lynn dismiss a charge during preliminary hearings unless he gets agreement from the solicitor's office.

You have a pretty corrupt system of justice set up in Aiken County. The Governor and SC Attorney General should step in an conduct a full and through investigation.

The DEA needs to go down to Aiken and do a complete inventory of the drug evidence room since the entire narcotics unit has been fired. Those boys do a great job and if they find any discrepancies they will take the appropriate action regardless of what the sheriff wants to do. Chances are these guys were diverting drugs to crack who*** in exchange for sex.

Let's thank GOD that Jeff Nation and Angela Craig were not added to our list of officers killed in the line of duty. Hunt fired Nation and had him arrested for doing his job and the jury disagreed with this Hunt knee-jerk reaction and aquitted him. Hunt will throw any one of his deputies and their families under the bus if he thinks it will promote his little dick status in the Aiken community. Think twice before you defend this untrustworthy disloyal excuse for a sheriff. If you don't believe us call Jeff Nation or Mike Toole and get their opinion of this low life scum bag.

Heard too many stories of obstruction of justice, misconduct and abuse of process associated with Mike Hunt. Also heard he is the only sheriff in South Carolina who was indicted for murder.
