DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT ED REYNOLDS AND THE TOWN WERE FOUND NON-NEGLIGENT BY A COURT OF LAW?
I gather this was a civil trial which probably means a jury made the decision. Come on, the evidence was presented, and a jury ruled. It was over. There apparently were no appeals.
Don't you think Ed Reynolds absolutely regrets that the young man was killed?
This case was civil without a jury. You do not even know that all civil cases do not have a jury. In fact, most do not.

But I want to make a statement about state trials that do have a jury. If you ever find yourself on the losing end of a trial where your relative or friend or just some case you follow in the paper turns out where they set the perpatrator free, it is your right to speak to the jurors if they will speak to you. Ask them how the D.A. prepared them pre-trial. The D.A. can help throw a case to the advantage of the person who is standing trial by what he tells the jury about the case before they go to court. It has been done and I am sure that it will continue to be done there in Grant Co. Newell was taught well by her predecessors. That's why she is the D.A.

I hoped that when people started moving into the tri-county area that things would change. That they would see the corruption, crime and mockery of the judicial system.

One of the biggest problems is the news media. They will not print anything that is controversial towards the status que. I suppose that is why Tina Ely is only printing a four page newspaper these days. Las Cruces - Sun News also is lacking in reporters who have the "where-with- all" that exposes the corruption. This is how so many people were and are lured into the county then find out when the are victims it is not a good place to live after all.
It does not have to be this way. There is power in numbers. It is up to the people to speak up for change. It may be that the rest of the country is as corrupt as Grant Co. But that does not mean that the citizens have to accept corruption.
Apathy is a disease that rots the core of a community.

Have to agree with you. I was one that was"lured" here with stories of what "a great community" Grant Co is. Yeah, community of vultures, greedheads and slanderers, murderers, gangs and regular meth heads. Just try to complain to ANY law enforcement around here. They act like your crazy if you report
anything. Rude, patronizing macho thugs with a badge.

It's obvious there's no reasoning with you. You are so biased against Ed Reynolds and the town that you can not (or will not)let the past be the past.
Sir: I'm your neighbor. I own my home, pay my taxes, raised my child, attend my church and worked locally for many years. I'm not a native, having arrived in 1969. I'm sick of business as usual. It is fortunate that you and yours have never been a victim of crime here. It speaks highly of you. When this happens, you learn; a victim has no rights, police protect criminals, the DA and judges are constrained by the LAW, gangs are members of law enforcements families, felons are police informers, the jail stages fights,A Child & Family services employee & GANG steal $5000,000.00 over 5 years. Denial is not a river in Egypt, and does not solve any of our problems.

corrections:$500,000.00 not 5 million. Sorry! The past is not the past if we keep making the same mistakes. We must improve and I don't understand anyone who doesn't acknowledge our mistakes.

Hello! Welcome to the real world. Silver City is not immune to any type of crime that you would find in any other city, large or small. I challenge you to research crime stats for N.M. cities. I think you will find that Silver City is well within the medium, no where near the top.
that happen in every community, large or small.

400 years of political corruption does not make it right. Enough of this. PBS has 3rd in the Ken Burns series on our National Parks. Much more interesting than any discussion with Country Boy.

It is women who have brought some sanity to this debate (if we can call it a debate.)
Woman are life givers, therefore it is repulsive to women that those who do not respect life in general, who make excuses for stolen lives be it in the past, present or future dare to post such crass and asinine comments excusing the actions past and present of those paid by the public to protect and serve.

I won't lower myself to post what I think the name "Country Boy" should be changed to. You are not in denial sir. I wish I could excuse your ingnorance as your being in denial. You are a big part of an on going problem . You are evil. You do not care about the people who have died or have been hurt by the criminals that law enforcement you so stanchly defend allow to remain free be it incompetence, apathy, laziness, because it is friend or relative, or gross stupidiity. I do not think you have suffered loss due to a burglary, random victimization, or murder. If you have you would not have the insane gall to defend what most of the population in this area knows is the truth, yet feel helpless to address. You no doubt are a cop from this area. No one in their right minds would defend what you do, except for "Observer" who I believe is either you, or a buddy.

To answer ease your mind in the earlier post, I don't know Country Boy, but I sure do agree with most of what he has to say.

And, unlike you, I do enjoy living in Silver City and Grant County.

For you folks that keep arguing about Mark's death and whether Eddie Reynolds is a good Chief of police or not.

I was engaged to Mark's brother Allan, before he was also killed in a car accident about a year later. I also know Eddie Reynolds.

Yes, Eddie did indeed kill Mark. Yes, Eddie was found Non-negligent. I also know Eddie Reynolds. He is a GOOD cop. A cops cop. Many people SHOULD look up to him and respect him. YES, Eddie has always had the cross to bear and has always felt bad about being the one that caused Mark's death. Case closed. The Walker family and Eddie Reynolds do NOT need people pulling skeletons that have long been buried, digging up bones. Have you never heard the phrase... Let sleeping dogs lay.

I'm not saying that anyone is or isn't at fault.
As an 'almost member' of the Walker family, and a friend to Ed Reynolds, I can and will vouch for Ed as being a loyal, honest, and upstanding citizen, who not only cares about the law enforcement in Silver City, but also about the citizens who live in and around Silver City.

So... quit digging up bones, and let sleeping dogs lay.

You are so wrong on all counts. It is typical that you would come up with "you hit me first" ! grow up.
Cleo died this summer at Ft. Bayard, NOT many years ago. Ed Reynolds was the subject of an internal investigation (at least thats what it was called I call it a joke) this was a long time ago but you can go to the court house and find the court files where the family of the boy he was alledged to have run over ON PURPOSE sued the SCPD. HE IS the right man for the job of SCPD Chief.
Think before you write.
