One more thing. Every since this problem started to occur... I have been hearing strange sounds from my laptop. Sounds that I did not hear before. I have this laptop less than 6 months now.

Same problem on my son's dv6000. Just came back from Geek Squad at Best Buy: Video card on Motherboard. Cannot bring myself to spend $350 or so on a $800 computer. Something wrong there.

OK I FINALLY GOT IT IVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM....
(POWER ON BEEEEEEEEEEP.....BEEEP....BEEE EP....!!! BLACK SCREEN) >: WELL TRY THIS IT WORK FOR ME!!!!
1-turn your pc off....
2-press the power bottom on and keep pressing it for 6-8 sec , and keep watching the blue lamp at the card reader ... u will notice that in this first time the blue light will stay lighten .... so by keeping the bottom pressed for 8 sec the pc start and turn off again.........ok don't worry...
3- press again the power bottom and the pc will work and watch the blue card reader lamp ... when it flash off remove your hand out of the power bottom and the pc will WORK normally and will go to the HP logoooooooooooo.......
4- repeat these steps if not worked from the second time.....

So is it working even after reboots, Jay? Is Jay's solution working for the others as well?

HP replaced the mother board and now everything is working well, even the wireless. HP also expanded the guarantee time to two years because many dv6000 laptops has the bad mother board. So fortunately I didn't have to pay the repairing.

Could be a static problem. If you hold down the power button for a few seconds while the pc is off this should discharge any unwanted static. I had similar beeping problem with my m7480 pavilion media center pc. seemed to happen when i was taking out my wireless card to move it down a slot. give it a try. I also opened the case up and made sure everythign was properly connected and blew off any excess dust i could see before reconnecting and discharging static.

Same problem here. Bought this laptop in Aug this year. First webcam gone, now 3 beeps, 1 long 2 short and a black screen. Very surprised HP is not doing anything proactively; very unHaPpy

This is very messed up....

I have this excat same problem where the Wireless Card stops working...
And then I have this 1 long beep, 2 short beeps..

This is an HP DEFECT!
They should repair all dv6000's with this problem...free of charge..

I'm very very upset with HP...

This isn't just for the DV6000 series I have a DV9225US that has been doing the same thing. I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. I noticed this seems to be accompanied by the upper left corner of the laptop becoming hot. I use a cooling system with it to try to keep it running cooler I hate to think of how hot it would get without one. This unit is about 7 months old and HP wants me to be without it for about 3 weeks between shipping and repair time which is unreasonable for a unit under warrenty. It should not be having any problems yet.

I have a DV6190EU Pavilion and have exactly the same problems. First it stopped picking up the wireless card and then was only booting up every so often..now I am getting the one long beep and 2 short ones. It is just out of warranty and feel like HP should sort this one out as there is obviously a fault with the laptops they are selling
