Here is an idea... Maybe keep the 60 construction workers as checkers when the remodel is finished.. Utilizing all the checkouts would be smart business, and create happier shoppers who wouldn't limit their purchases to get through the lines, and lines and lines, and lines, and longer lines of shoppers.

Hey, I am all for the remodel. However, some of the 60 they hired are horrible. Wal-Mart has never been known for its helpful employees (at least not locally), but our dealings with two, 20ish women who were supposed to be moving items on the cleaning product aisle made the average employee look downright delightful. They huffed and sighed and asked, "What?" in the most disdainful tones when we had to ask them if we could reach an item they were blocking while they chatted instead of worked. We have not been back since. We'd rather pay a bit more elsewhere than be treated like trash. Wal-Mart, if you truly want to improve your stores, work on customer service more than appearances.“Can I help you find something?”“Sorry, let me get out of your way.”“Oh excuse me; I didn’t mean to be blocking the aisle.” These are just a few of the comments I’ve never heard from anyone working at Wal-Mart. It is like they intentionally hire the rudest, most self-absorbed people they can.

WalMarts customer service is horrid and yet I continue to shop there. WalMart NEVER has enough cashiers and yet I continue to shop there. WalMart is ALWAYS ridiculously busy and yet I continue to shop there. I hate that they have me trapped like this. It's those lower prices that keep me coming back and they one-stop-shopping, although I do find myself avoiding it more and more, trying to find the bargains elsewhere. Really people, do you do anything besides shop at WalMart? Since I'm a teacher I have summer off and have been able to hit the store at various times and on various days and the only time it's not terribly packed is Sunday morning before 9:00. Oh and the manager is quoted in the article as saying something about how customers haven't minded the remodel. Who you been talking to buddy? I have grumbled every time I'm in there about shopping around taped off zones of new tile, the overpowering smell of the freshly laid floor glue, and trying to find everything that they've rearranged. I've heard others complaining too.

They think they own the place. Look at their expression when you ask for assistance. It's pathetic. If you don't like what you do, quit. You don't have to be there. If it's a job, make the most of it the way you would like to be treated.

I haven't been to Walmart in some time and don't miss it. They don't man the checkout stands, you can't find help and if you do they don't know where anything is or don't know what you're talking about. The prices had gone up each time I went shopping there. They made $419 billion for the fiscal year 2011 and cry they're not making enough money. With a very minute amount of their earnings they could provide what is needed to retain customers, happy customers but they don't want to turn loose of the money. Alas, only wish Sam Walton was still with us. It was a much better place to shop when he held the reins. So long, Goodbye Walmart.

The slower the check out lane, the more my shopping cart empties. I am one of those who think over my purchases in the check out line. If they had a faster check out process, Walmart would make more money on me!

Alas, only wish Sam Walton was still with us. It was a much better place to shop when he held the reins. So long, Goodbye Walmart. In many, many places, WalMart is still the WalMart of old. These in Farmington (particularly the one on East Main) don't even resemble a true WalMart store where customer is king/queen. They've really lost sight, and I'm thinking about sending an in-depth letter to the home office in Bentonville listing the many customer service failings. For the past six months I've documented several that I've witnessed and others that have directly involved me. Sam would roll over in his grave.

Why should I stand there for 30 minutes to spend my money in their store when I can go to Target and check out much more quickly?

I have left my fully loaded cart at the supervisor podium with the food that was frozen when I got in line thawed and dripping on the floor. It can be ridiculous at times with the plethora of employees walking around and only 3 registers open. One express, one that can't sell liquor, and the third 6 baskets deep. Why don't you do what I'm going to do--write to the home office in Bentonville, AR? Believe me, they will listen. In fact, I'm shocked that they don't pick up on some of the lack of service when they send people here to visit. The East Main WalMart is quite profitable, so I'm sure they have become uncaring about their customer service--after all, it doesn't seem to hurt them. What they're not seeing (maybe) are all the people leaving the store who might have stayed and shopped or checked out if only they had a more customer friendly experience.

I wonder if they are going to take out 85% of their check-out lines since they don't use them anyway.

I didn't notice remodeling but sure noticed them just moving things around to where it took more time than was needed to find anything! Just when you get familiar with where the items are, they switch it up on you and call it remodeling!

It's not just walmart when it comes to customer service it's the whole area. It is a problem for many businesses here. Wish I knew what was the cause, but I don't. I have had this discussion with many people here and again, it's not just limited to Walmart.

I didn't know about the remodel until I was inside and shopping. I got to the grocery department and everything was being moved around. None of the employees knew where anything was. I finally located the beans on that temporary aisle set up in the aisle. After all that, the area where the beans I wanted was completely empty although there was a space and a tag for them. I asked one of the employees stocking and was told if they weren't there, they didn't have them because everything for that section was stocked. I had forgotten something on the other side of the store and went back for it. I had to go past the "seasonal" items and there sat all those beans I was looking for. I went back two weeks later and still no beans in the grocery section. They're all over in the seasonal. Do you suppose they might sell more of an item if it was in the place it should be? I wouldn't shop at WalMart if I could get some items I get there from another store. I can't shop a grocery list at any store in this town. Most of the time I can't put an entire meal together without a trip to at least three stores. As for leaving a full grocery cart sitting in the checkout aisle...what does that accomplish? I've taken the time to do the shopping and now I have to drive somewhere else and do it all again? How does that help? Not to mention that stuff you left there thawing is going right back in the freezer for some poor unsuspecting customer to spend their hard earned money on. WalMart Sucks. And we have no options.

Well, that's true, but the difference is WalMart has made its fortune on going the extra 100 miles for customers, forcing many other retailers to fall in line or lose out. Customer service was Sam Walton's purpose, and it obviously worked well for him. The local WMs need to get back to their roots.
