Scarlett, I've been terminated at wamu as of today. Do you remember how long it took that company to provide your severance package check?
They took Long Beach from a really good company to an also ran. I read a recent (August) article on this site that says in a few words "they're getting out of the mortgage business.
As for WAMU Emp's comment of BITE ME? This is a forum as anyone can say whatever they please. Are you on here after hours or during the day? I hope it's the former, or you're verifying what people say.

Totally inaccurate picture of the India workforce. Culturally it is not possible to display behavior as you have described. India Ivan wrote: Everyone is correct about WaMu. It is the worst company I have seen to date as far as the way they treat employees. The lies keep coming, the lack of communication. I was chosen to mentor/train in India and let me tell you, it is a joke. You get what you pay for. If you outsource to another country and hire $2.00 per hour labor, you get $2.00 per hour intelligence,$2.00 per hour work ethic, etc. You get the point. People take naps at their desks, put their heads down, no adherence to starting time, breaks, etc. It is big company BS at its best. It is all about money and politics. Where does it end? The part about "Fair,Caring, Human, Dynamic & Driven", what happened to that? Again a joke. Where does all of this end? there are more jobs coming to India, Costa Rica and who knows where else. This is all bigger than all of us and nothing we can do except vent. It is not right by any means. That is the bottom line. It is all wrong. <quoted text>

Has anyone successfully kept their severance package when leaving the Bank prior to the "End Date". I am a 4+ year employee undergoing layoff. I was fortunate enough to secure another position, but the Bank doesn't want to honor any of the severance package if I leave early. Any tips?

Avagirl, I was at Long Beach. Will say the managers, senior team managers were all top quality. There's plenty of jobs with the competition. Ameriquest and others are picking up people all the time.

I was an employee in Stockton in the fraud dept for 3 years, loved WAMU, alot of people in management sucked there though, especially in the fraud dept, thought they were the sh..they have a new FVp of fraud from BOFA and hes a great guy but everyone under him is a bitch....
With the layoffs though, are you suprised, many of you get mad at them for laying people off, what are they suposed to do? Go under because they didnt want to let people go, thats just stupid.
It is what it is, people were getting paid alot in LA and they can have the same job done in S.A. for half the price....it seems like normal business to me.

Wamu is a terrible company and they just keep getting worse, glad we're out of there!!! WAMU strikes again laying people off in the clark NJ office for the second this year and now i am one of them to make matters worse they are trying to not give me my severance do to being on leave which they call an unpaid leave but i was on a paid leave and the worse thing of all is dealing with having to put tickets in, inorder to try to get an answer and when someone does call you back they dont know what they are talking about so sell wamu just sell and i agree with everyone when they say that wamu management is terrible i had the worse ops manager who left the company plus in my two years there i had four diffrent managers whom none knew a thing about a mortgage never the less how to handle employees

Well 30 people in our site were told on 10/4 that our jobs were eliminated. This is a mtg processing center. The layoff touched uw, processors, closers, openers, 4 mgr. We have to stay on the job until 11/3. Very hard to do. How can a co lay off 9000 plus people in this past year and still in the third quarter still loose money in the Home Loan Division. I think the co has gone down hill to say the least. I started in 2000 when wamu purchased PNC. Rumor is there is going to be another layoff. Same day they laid off 35 people in Jacksonville, and supposedly closed San Diego.

I heard all the same stories about WAMU working for Siemens. Management with WAMU complained about everything. Because of this we changed procedures everyday. We were doing the server support for WAMU. Very strange working conditions. Keeping an old operating system like OS/2 around on there servers was a joke. I would never bank with WAMU. Good luck to everybody being laid off.

ex manager wrote: WAMU sucks. I got my severance at least. Nothing like busting your ass for them 7 days a week in the mortgage department trying to build it up to have your new manager (3rd one in 1 year) come in and say "we will not be closing your department. Keep your head down and work hard. then 30 dyas later they shut it down. I am working elsewhere now...much different enviroment. HSBC WILL be buying WAMU. they are doing due diligence right now......yes we still have friends on the inside. Do you liek your loan boarded in India??? Yes...the Bellevue LFC sent their boarding manager to India to "teach" them how to do it. Its only a matter of time before they do it in all the LFCs....AND can you say good bye to jobs in Bellevue??? Yes..they are going to San Antonio in a year. Really, I always thought Citi bank was trying to buy WAMU i recently got laid off for the second time so I am looking for something as well, is HSBC a good company?
