Wamu is laying off 3500 people June 1st. They have worked out deals with BofA not to hire anyone until the layoff is complete. They expect people to leave before so they don't give severance pay. Thev reason the chatsworth division failed was overpaid managers $80,000 who did nothing and would not learn the jobs done by their employees. Favoritism is rampant. Supervisor changing bonus points from their top performer because their friends can't make bonus....more to come

Because we were involved in the layoffs. Physic network? Don't listen to the news as WAMU is informing the media that most of the 34% of the layoffs in Chatsworth are becasue they are were real estate appraisers. This was said on the ABC Eyewitness news this morning. I have it on tape. Since we work at the Chatsworth division we do not need the psychic network. There were no appraisers in our building of 500 people being laid off. All of these jobs went to Seattle, Jacksonville, Milwaukee and San Antonio. Too many jobs have been sent to other states and there are more coming. And some going to India. Washington Mutual is a poor example of what a company should be like. Hiring managers that have no clue on how to manage and don't care either. Not treating people fairly. It is a shame that what was once a good company has now become a joke. Many people that have left have gone to banks that treat people fairly and do not create a hostile environment for employees to work in.
So what do you think about that?

They are sending my job to India...great huh? I think Wamu is a horrible company to work for now...Chris: did they try and extend your layoff date...they gave us an option to stay in our "current position" for an additional two months, or decide to leave on 7/31. They gave us about 24 hours to make a decision with no additional information regarding the extension...whether or not full time or part time hours, etc....I could not respond therefore my layoff date continues to be 7/31....unfortunately i would have been forced to take phone calls and not do my since its going to india...this place is a joke...I truly wonder when wamu plans on selling Chris Fox wrote: Because we were involved in the layoffs. I was a let go by the almighty Wamu. I'm glad I got of there. The one thing that really bothered me they advised everyone that you would get special considereation when applying for internal jobs. I literally waited 30- 45 days for replies back. If i was lucky enough to even get a reply. Poor management throughout the organization. I was part of a company that actually cared about its employees but Wamu came in and bought PNC Mtg, and so the soap opera started. I finally left Wamu for good in 2005 and landed at a great company Mogan Stanley. It like night and day if you compare the management. I should know I'm a an ex manager at Wamu. Don't get on my case I was only middle management and I actually busted my ass there for 7 years for 3-5% increases. I would love to see the almighty Wamu pack up its bags and get out of Illinois for Good Later

I remember having to call in a ticket for my computer at Wamu the call went to India so a guy out there by the name of Gangwar could page someone in my building to help me. This is no lie

WAMU sucks. I got my severance at least. Nothing like busting your ass for them 7 days a week in the mortgage department trying to build it up to have your new manager (3rd one in 1 year) come in and say "we will not be closing your department. Keep your head down and work hard. then 30 dyas later they shut it down. I am working elsewhere now...much different enviroment. HSBC WILL be buying WAMU. they are doing due diligence right now......yes we still have friends on the inside. Do you liek your loan boarded in India??? Yes...the Bellevue LFC sent their boarding manager to India to "teach" them how to do it. Its only a matter of time before they do it in all the LFCs....AND can you say good bye to jobs in Bellevue??? Yes..they are going to San Antonio in a year.

This doesn't suprise me one bit, I used to work for West Telemarketing here in San Antonio (I was fired for doing my job correctly). It seems that the washouts from West have made they're way to the new WaMu call center, my friend started working there before they hired a bunch of former West managers into management positions and now there's no difference between the two. I'm trying to find out now, but a rumor in town has it that some of Wests IT dept managed to in at WaMu, if that's so the website will never work right again.

It's true. Every six months there is a reorg in WAMU. Too many high paid managers and too many outsourced teams just sitting around. Chris Fox wrote: Wamu is laying off 3500 people June 1st. I've been with the bank for ten years. It is very sad to see the original WaMu gone sour and rotten. The company has turned into another souless and mission-less company. Kerry, I don't think Steve knows what was WaMu known for before. What is customer service? Is it eatable? Not to menetion the "Fair","Caring ","Human", "Dynamic", and "Driven?" They are there but not exercised. Sad!!!

I worked for the Bank for almost three years and got laid off...my ex-manager told me to leave the group too before the 'execution'. The even sad thing is that he got paid for not knowing what exactly he's doing :O Management will not tell you what's actually 'happening' until the 'final' days...very inhuman! I return after 3 months but found out they even gone worse...maybe time to change my heart for some deserving company for my 100+%...very very SAD to see it has gone BAD!!!

Current Wamu Employee

I am currently employed w/Wamu out of California. I recently left on a Leave of Absence due to inappropriate behavior of certain supervisors. I do however keep in touch with the employees that are actively working on site. They are continiously hearing rumors that the site will be closing but they have not been given confirmed answers. I find this very upseting that this company would allow/demand that their employees continue to work hard ensuring their positions while all along knowing that they would be closing down. I understand from the managements point of view and postion in the matter. Unfortunately, this company is constantly advertising "Compassion". By doing this I feel that this company lacks the "Compassion" for their employees who have made them who they are today. Being an employee, I just as the others have sacraficed my family and personal life, working 6 to 7 days a week performing at the top but at the end, we are the ones who end up with absolultely nothing!
Does anyone know which sites are being released and the target dates?

Everyone is correct about WaMu. It is the worst company I have seen to date as far as the way they treat employees. The lies keep coming, the lack of communication. I was chosen to mentor/train in India and let me tell you, it is a joke. You get what you pay for. If you outsource to another country and hire $2.00 per hour labor, you get $2.00 per hour intelligence,$2.00 per hour work ethic, etc. You get the point. People take naps at their desks, put their heads down, no adherence to starting time, breaks, etc. It is big company BS at its best. It is all about money and politics. Where does it end? The part about "Fair,Caring, Human, Dynamic & Driven", what happened to that? Again a joke. Where does all of this end? there are more jobs coming to India, Costa Rica and who knows where else. This is all bigger than all of us and nothing we can do except vent. It is not right by any means. That is the bottom line. It is all wrong. WaWaMu wrote: I've been with the bank for ten years.
