I saw an email as I was leaving on Friday from our RXS stating that Flu shots are only covered if you have WAG insurance. Employees without insurance can get a discount with PSC. This is terrible, just another benefit cut. What are you thoughts??

I still won't get a fly shot, I'm over 6 and under 60; the flu won't kill me.

The Cochrane Study: Flu shots not effective

http://summaries.cochrane.org/CD001269/vaccin...

Authors' conclusions:
Influenza vaccines have a modest effect in reducing influenza symptoms and working days lost. There is no evidence that they affect complications, such as pneumonia, or transmission.

Weren't they free for all employees in years past?

Pretty sure most store managers and pharmacy managers had no idea initially that Walgreens changed this since Walgreens did this pretty quietly. They just put it out on Compass this last week.

Also, from the CDC in regards to the flu shot:

•Influenza (in effect March 2, 2010)

An expanded recommendation on influenza vaccine for all adults 19 to 49 years of age went into effect on March 2, 2010. Plans and issuers will be required to provide coverage without cost-sharing for this service as described in the recommendation and in the 2011 schedules in the first plan year (in the individual market, policy year) that begins on or after March 2, 2011. Read the full text of the recommendation.

Basically: If Walgreens isn't going to give it to all their employees for free, as long as you follow the guidelines of the Affordable Care Act in getting it submitted for payment to your insurance.... Your flu shot is free if you go to your doctor for it.

No idea if places like Walgreens or Take Care fall under the same benefits from insurance companies or not. I would hope that if it does apply to Walgreens and Take Care then I would assume Walgreens would have already jumped on the boat and let people know it's free.

Good! Maybe they won't harass us so much to get one. You couldn't pay me to get a flu shot. I'm not interested in screwing around with my immune system for something like the flu.

Agreed 100%. But once again I will have to tell the SM and RXM 'no' several times, explain why I don't feel I need the flu shot, and then listen to them tell me why my explanation is flawed and invalid. I really hate working retail during the holidays...

Our store already processed free flu shots for most of our employees, both with and without WAG insurance. Is there a time limit when employees need to get it before it's no longer company-covered?

I am soooo happy to see people refusing the flu shot!! It's completely bogus, offers little if any protection against whatever the guessed strains are, and comes with ZERO liability to manufacturer. Yes, it could kill you and you have no one to blame but yourself for taking it.
Wags is of course only in it for the money, just like the Big Pharma companies that make them.
Do a search on
"Merck vaccine fraud" and see how much money and fraud is involved with just the MMR vaccine.
If I'm ever asked to give a Gardasil shot, I'm refusing. Anybody else have this concern? Please add to this thread.

Just tell them its against your religion. They wont bother you after that, dont want to get involved with religion at the workplace.

We pharmacists are only taught how the immune systes works, nothing about the vaccines' adjuvant components. Out of school we just think of the vaccine as a antigen-delivery vehicle to engender immunity. That is not the whole truth.

Here is one of the better docs:

The same Grand Families that control via trusts the preferred shares of Big Oil and Finance also control Pharma. The HQ for Novartis is right down the street from the Bank of International Settlements in Basel. The BIS is where most of the gold plundered in WWII ended up.

Not true! Flu shots are covered for all employees on payroll. Family members are covered only if they have the Walgreens insurance.

Have your SM and RXM reread their compass. Input code CRW for employees and family with insurance... Code CRWFLU for EVERY employee.

Two weeks in a row now the Compass project for Pharmacy News You Can Use has stated that it's NOT covered for free for all employees, only those with Walgreens insurance.

Don't believe me? Go do a search for both August 13th and August 20ths Pharmacy News You Can Use and it's stated in both of them!

I double checked news you can use... It shows the 2 input codes (CRW for insured employees and CRWFLU for all other employees) the restriction requiring wag insurance is only on family members, not employees.
