Drug test collector in the bathroom?!

We were random drug tested yesterday and the male collector was in the bathroom with us. With all of the creeps and crazy people in this world I can't believe they allow this to happen.
I know that in the past they did not stare you down while you were giving the sample. Anyone else seen this?

The only tests I have seen in our store have had a female collector and she was set up in the woman's bathroom.(I don't work every day so there might have been a test on a day I was not working.) The collector stayed in the bathroom the while time I was there but she had the stuff set up by the sinks. I used the stall and closed the door. No flushing was allowed. I think there was dye in the toilet bowl? Not sure about the tank. I think the collector checked the specimen for temperature. I assume the men got the same treatment but I will ask.

I read the policy in store net and they are not permitted in the bathroom. The are only allowed to prop open the door if needed.
I'll call the no loss hotline and report this. I don't need creepers staring at my wife while she's in the bathroom. If anyone else has seen this happen please call the anonymous hotline and report it.

Is there really a problem having someone in the bathroom with you? Just go in the stall. There's no difference between being in the hallway outside of the bathroom and being outside of a stall.

I don't think they have to actually watch you urinate.

i would have a problem with this. it sounds like you had a male in the female restroom. This is totally unacceptable. Male in Male and Female in Female is ok in my book.

Really. I did not know this. I can't remember if the door was propped open or not. I know she was in the bathroom when she handed me my cup and when she collected it. I don't actually know where she was while I was in the stall. I was a little busy at the time. Of course if the door was propped open, I suppose anyone passing by could hear you.

The policy (actually the FAQ part) says that the employee does not have to be 'observed' while depositing their specimen. It says nothing about whether or not the collector can be in the bathroom. It's not invasion of privacy if there's no way for them to see you while you're doing the deed (I saw nothing about closing the door NOT being allowed), seriously grow up.

Where abouts did this occur? Weve heard rumors of a quest lab van in our district, if true I bet all my cashiers and some managers would fail! Ill be working alone when all the weed-lovers get fired. Can you refuse? I know this implies guilt but if this is just some kind of witchhunt to fire people to cut costs I refuse to take part. I am clean and proud of it. Its henprinciple and how lowthis company has sunk that makes me so angry.

Of course you can refuse. Just like you can choose to kick a crying child. But if you refuse, it will be counted as gross insubordination (I think it was gross, but def insub), and you can/will (again, read it too long ago today to remember 100%) be terminated. Suggestion: don't refuse on principle.

Also, what I read that it wasn't like a group of WAG corp decides to do the random drug testing, it's some sort of Medical Professional who decides what store to test, and they can choose whether the whole store gets tested, or just a certain percentage. Not sure how they'd figure out which n% of employees to test, though.

When my store got drug tested 6 months ago, it was a lady who collected the specimens and she set up in the women's bathroom. As a guy, I thought it was strange that I had to pee in the women's bathroom, but it was just me in the stall and the lady was waiting outside the door, so everything went okay.

Good to know Jtruant. It just seems like a way to thin out the flock. But you're right....if they want my piss they can have it. Id like to throw it in corporates face but that would probably get me fired too lol. Im going to eat asparagus everyday just in case so I can make the experience that much more gross to the urine police lol!

If they are going to test, they should schedule the test to capture every employee of the store at least once in a certain period. If you only test on certain days and certain shifts, you will not be able to test people that do not regularly work those days or those shifts. Just my opinion.

They just want to make sure no one is stealing the Pharmacy drugs, thats why they test managers and techs. I have never seen them come in on overnights.

the only time my store ever got tested, I had the day off. Everyone (and I mean everyone) working in the store that day got tested, and a front-end cashier ended up getting fired (tested positive for THC, if I remember correctly). A couple of years later, a coworker was talking about doing coke with her husband on a regular basis, and another coworker decided to call loss prevention and request that they send in the drug tester, but they said they wouldn't do it at an employee's request. Dunno how they really decide to do it.

JTruant...... It's not in the FAQ. You need to read thru the policy. It's specifically says that for no reason should a collector of the opposite sex be in the restroom. It also states that they may prop open the door if they feel nessecary but that is it.

Read everything before you run your mouth.

For some reason i do not think much will get in the cup from me, every time i go my p e nis touches the pink soapcake in the urinal and that does not leave any room for the specimen cup.
