Here goes Hilda again. Just when things are looking up. Two robberies, one in Farmington, one in Newington. In the Farmington story the race of the suspect is listed. In the Newington story it is not. Are we to believe that at this point no one knows the race of the Newington suspect? I don't care if he's black, white, or green. The Cournant needs to be consistant in that if people are looking for a suspect they know what to look for.

Where is Disco? hartfordisadisater? Fat Tina Brown? And all the other dipsh*ts who spend hours on these forums who only post when bashing Hartford at every crime-related article?

Don't they care about crime in the suburbs? Where they live? Or do they only feel better about their pathetic lives when they can bash others?

The Courant has a standing agreement that unless otherwise stated the suspect is black. The local NAACP complained a few years back that the suspects "color" was being wrongly overused so now most local media outlets don't name the color if the suspect is black.

Anyways, this is no shock.
Expect robberies and violent crimes to increase a hundred-fold in the wake of our economic recession. This is what happens when people are desperate. I certainly don't condone it, but I also don't act surprised when our country's economy has gone down the toilet.

The ring of fear will extend to all cities. The suburbs are no better or safer than the cities. I would not get gas anywhere at night unless I absolutely had to.

So we are supposed to be mindreaders, and know they are black. How is speaking the truth "wrongly overusing" something? Thanks for the info though.

It's sad that the Courant doesn't name the suspect color as "black" if he/she is. Point of note: take a look at the article concerning the robbery in Farmington, "The suspect, a 6-foot tall white male".
We noticed this about 6 years ago and actually have a friend in the media who stated their producers (and other local media outlets) were being pressured by the local NAACP who felt that when the media stated the suspect was "black" that it gave a negative image. The rare times the media will break this trend is if the crime is extremely violent putting the public at risk. The NAACP's argument went something like "A disproportionate number of perpetrators on the news are people of color, especially African Americans, and the strongest evidence shows that people of color, again primarily African Americans, are under-represented as victims in crime news. African American perpetrators are depicted as dangerous and indistinguishable as a group, and they appear more frequently in crime news stories than Whites. Interracial crime is also covered disproportionately."

So were they saying the white crimes weren't being reported, or were they upset at the number of crimes committed by blacks, and instead of taking the log out their own eye tried to get rid of the speck?

That's ok... unless otherwise stated, I typically make the same assumption about a criminal's race. NAACP just mandated what us racist pigs have been doing all along!

Do you not realize that if the suspect is black they list it, but they don't if the suspect is white. Pay attention to the articles, and the news on television also. I am saying this as a white male. It is a way of making it seem as though we don't commit these types of crimes.

You are mistaken. The Farmington aritcle listed the suspect as white. The Newington article listed no race. I'm not going to assume what color the person is. All the I am asking for is truth in journalism.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
