It does not look like the government officials are going to help since they get their pockets lined with the big oil mans dollars to keep out of their business.
Look what happened when they were dragged some of the big oil men in front of some congressmen, the next day they raised prices by 35 cents or more. This was to show if anyone got in there way they could make it even worst on us and they sure did.
I think we need to have another "Boston Tea Party" again, but this time call it the" Boston Oil Party!!!!!!!!!!"

I believe the only terriost we have to worry about now in America is named the "Oil Companies ".
The government needs to stop all this speculations their letting the oil rich bull are pulling off.
They better stop it or I believe you are going to start seeing a lot more drive off's and more things done for the little guy to survive!
When are the little guys going to get HELP!!!!!!!!!!Or are they wanting all of us to go to the poor house!!!!!!!!!!

the sad truth is the government nor the big companies care about anything but money. There is really nothing the average person can do but suck it up as much as possible. Anything more would require many many people to get together and agree to make a stand against not only big business but the government as well. It could be done if we would stop worrying about the little things and work together to make changes. Most people don't realize that the government gets it's power from the people, same for big business. If the American people all together said enough we are not paying another red dime until things get more in line with what it should be and boycotted more things as one sociaty we might see somethings happen for the good of the common man. But I don't think that will happen in my lifetime or anyone else's.

Watch the Escalades, F350's, Yukons, Hummers, etc fire out from stop lights, and run 25 MPH over the limit, and understand why demand and prices are high. As long as the gas guzzlers keep sucking it up and paying the high price and wasting it and keeping demand high, the price will keep going up.
What will your kids do without oil or gas? How will jobs be affected? How will asphalt be made?
Plastics?
USA is grinding itself into oblivion.

Hi Everyone, this is a great topic to discuss these days. I posted this on many forums as I would like to get everyone's thoughts on this subject and solution.

Now that election is over, we can all expect the cost of fuel to start rising again. And believe me, it's going to rise higher than the price it was before the election. Yikes!

There is a Chanel 4 News Investigation report on a new product that has hit the market by storm. You can watch the news clip here:

http://professionalsworldwide.com/SaveOnGas/

Based on my research, I found that this product has been tested by NASA with over 20 million miles of proven success. It has been sold to over 155

countries all over the world. Over 500 million pieces have been sold. It is also EPA registered, so it means that it won't harm your car.

And they have a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Watch the news clip and see for yourself.

I Know what we can all do " I so the other day, someone at a Arco drive up to a pump
went into the store he was in there for 15 minutes while I was waiting at another gas
pump all the gas pumps were accupied now I did the same thing I went inside and left
my car in the line and took my time and people drove off and because of the busy highway
who are always stopping here just going to the next station down the road, if we all just
did that to each gas station we could slowly backup the new delivery of the new gas,
before this a week ago the gas was going up, then it stopped all the other acro's gas
higher be 2 and 3 cents, but this one gas station has stayed lower, I told my friend that
is an idea, if we could all just spend 20 minutes of our time just wasting time it will
add up and someone will start lowing the price atleast at one station, try it and watch,
I do belive that our gas stations are taking advange of us, On one day I went to get gas,
and they were chaging the gas prices, I
told the attended why are you raising the prices, you did not get a new delivery
she told me yes we did get one, even if we don't get one we get a call telling us to
raise the price so we do, we don't have to get a new delivery to raise it. that tells
you something, how many gas stations are doing this, lets all do something like this one
guy did he blocked the pump and made some people wait, there's no telling how many
people drove on by that station that day.

I don't think enough people can do this and make it hurt the gas companies maybe
we can, even if we could get people to stop driving like let my friend drive me
to work or take the bus, this wont hurt much, try the blocking the pump wasting time
and parking anywhere perhaps near the entrance and walking off to buy something
will work. spread the word, I do this often now.

SO atleast one gas station is now selling enough gas so there delivery will come
but wont be unloading that much gas at this stop. is this an idea or not.

We all need to remember that a large amount of Oil and Gas produced in the US is done by small "Mom and Pop" Oil Companies, who, unlike Big Oil, don't have the economies of scale on their side, or the cheap labor other countries take advantage of. So when lobbying against American Oil Companies remember that Small Oil employs hundreds of thousands of Working Class Americans at wages far above average wages for people of like education levels and would not be able to compete and stay in the market if they were regulated in the ways people are suggesting that the government regulate American Oil Companies.

Hello? 5 dollars here in Canada and we are the one supplying it to the US!!! We have the biggest reserves of oil sands on the planet! Alberta also refines it and now they wanna start shipping our crude down to the states. Its all about the big profit and how much more these companies are making every quarter! All we can do is bitch about it,before Katrina hit the states there use to be gas wars all over the place here now all I see is 1.15 a litre!!!!!!!!!!

The last time we saw prices this high at the pumps oil was selling for $76 a barrel. This time prices are around $60 a barrel and expected to bottom out at $58.
The culprit this time is refineries, or a lack thereof. Oil companies are expanding their U.S. refineries, but a new refinery has not been built since the 1970s. The industry cites community opposition to new refineries and government regulations that make it too costly and difficult to construct facilities.
About 800,000 barrels per day in U.S. crude oil refining capacity is currently offline, which translates into about 400,000 barrels a day in lost gasoline production.

Presto and Woodbine (above) have good points. As an insider for an independent royalty owner of Oil & Gas, I can tell you that the price of gasoline is completely determined and modulated by the refineries, not the actual oil producers or fuel stations (though, some of the major ones are simply beyond common sense of market matching).

Whether we acquired our interests 50 years ago or 5 weeks ago- the investment tied into pulling a barrel of oil from American soil has changed very little. When BOP (barrels) were at $16 20 years ago, it cost us $.30/barrel to pull from the ground. In today's market, it costs anywhere between $1.80 to $3.00/barrel, depending on the size of the producer (and, I'm talking about small, independent producers- no the mega producers whose cost is astronaumically lower). That means, the cost of production has gone up as much as 10X in 20 years, but in the old market- a worst case production cost scenario ($3/BOP) would equal $13.00/barrel net (before admin) of margin. In today's market, that now equals well over $55-$70/barrel net. So, the costs of pulling the barrel out of the ground has gone up only with the cost of labor, hardware and electricity to about $2 to $3, but the profits have gone up... well, you get the point.

You see, whether we are paid $30/barrel or $70/barrel, we DON'T negotiate the purchase price. The market is set on the futures market by people we never see, who bank on foreign exports which cost more to bring to the US and refine than that production already under our own feet.

It is disconcerting to look at the large oil companies and see (truly) how much they are gouging consumers. It costs little more to refine oil today than it did in winter. Sure, costs inflate for gas expansion/dilution, union wages and other field costs, but not by 50%. An to be true- we take whatever price per barrel they offer at that very day they empty the tank batteries. Even in that case, a gallon of gas should never cost more than $2.00/gallon in today's market- and that's WITH small companies turning a large profit at $40/barrel.

Keep that in mind the next time you see someone from the Big 3 PR's division touting how they are only responding to refinery and import costs.

A little unsettling, eh? Why do I tell yo this? Because the market needs to treat people as if the future to our children matters.

Folks stop the complaining and let us actually do something about it. Don't get distracted by dicussions that go around in circles and leave you feeling powerless and with the idea that somehow it is our fault for the rising prices. Remember Enron and California.....it is the same here....GREED!
Let us give them a good wack...one at a time....starting with Exxon....from now till the end of the year....buy no gas from them....it is that simple.....force the oil giants to start to compete against one another.....instead of forming a cartel to screw us.

Something to think about:

The prices for Gasoline here in Norway is about 2,2 dollar. No, not per Gallon, per Litre. Thats means about $ 8,50 per gallon.

I know things are a lot more expensive here in Norway then in the US. Presumable things cost about 2 times more in Norway. But on Gas it's costs 4 times as much!.

In the summer the prices are gonna be about $10 per Gallon. Still, few complains.
