I'm not sure at what point it becomes justifiable to take another mans job so you can leisurely try another profession. But, what I am sure of is this.....it absolutely is NOT when you lack the voice, the radio skills, the wit (not to be confused with gimmicks and stunts), the intelligence, the range of knowledge and the character of whom you are replacing.

Style above substance is often where TV news places its value. Mark Suppelsa should stick to television ONLY. And Barry Keefe should get behind a mic again soon. Chicago radio isn't the same without being able to hear his commanding voice and delivery during my morning commute.

What a mistake! Sanders has consistently beat the arrogant Supelsa in the ratings. Is this age discrimination? How is it Allison can be awol from the news for months and months yet Sanders is the one booted? Is that race and/or sex discrimination? And what about the spinless manner in which the management notified Sanders of the change--by leaking it to a newspaper columnist. Is that lack of character or lack of courage. Shame on WGN. Steve, you're the only reason I watch the news at 9. I'm going to miss you and wish you the bestof luck. I hope Supelsa goes down the tubes just like fox 32 news did.

This guy is so arrogant - he's gotten many great people (i.e. Barry Keefe) fired or removed due to his quest for anchor power.
His news coverage on 101.9 is a joke, especially after listening to his intro that states this guy is pressing the boundries on responsible, original news casting lol.
Yes, I completely agree!

Suppelsa's arrogance is shameful. The YouTube interview with Tony Sculfield, WGCI, where Suppelsa's laughing as he makes his veiled announcement of taking over Barry Keefe's news job - way before Keefe knew he was being terminated after 30 years - so exceeds the bounds of maturity, respect and decent behavior. Anyone with half a brain and half a moral compass surely must see through his pretty-boy, smarmy facade.

After seeing Suppelsa's full-of-himself boasting on the Tony Sco (YouTube) interview announcing his radio gig WEEKS BEFORE long-time news favorite Barry Keefe was even aware he was being terminated (to allow Mark to CASUALLY dabble in radio) I was appalled at Suppelsa's lack of decency and discretion! How RUDE. Add to that debacle, his Bill Hybels/Willow Creek Church bizarre interview and the defense of that interview when the Illinois Family Institute complained to him. He's not trustworthy, he's not nice and he's all about Mark Suppelsa first and foremost.
whats up with the willow creek interview? I missed it

Mark Suppelsa is a classy guy and an Evanstonian. The Suppelsas are low-key folk who are active in the community, and live in a regular home on a regular block.
If you saw Mark in person on the street in Evanston, you would barely recognize him as the made up and well-lit newscaster he is on TV.
Evanstonian. WOW man. Cool. Is that like a new word ? Awesome dude.

I was happy to see Mark off the air. Personally, I can't stand the way he delivers the news. His emphasis is all wrong. He talks to us like we are all children. I don't watch WGN news and there is no reason for me to start now.

He quits NBC because he couldn't have Warner Saunders' job. Then, he refuses to accept FOX's incredibly generous offer (especially considering that FOX ratings went DOWN approx. 12% over the last year of Suppelsa's contract). Instead Mark opts to take 30-year newsman Barry Keefe's job (and stinks at it); and now is taking Steve Sanders' job. Enough is enough. I'll never watch or listen to any station he's on. Ever.

Seems like Suppelsa is ruining a lot of people's families and careers. A regular guy in Evanston....what about the two guys he is putting out of a job? Both Keefe and Saunders were excellent. What is our country coming to when credible newsman are replaced by pretty boys.

Are you talking about when Allison Payne was out because of a series of mini strokes?!

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark while at FOX. He's a very genuine guy. Treated me and my family very nice while we watched a 9 PM live newscast as Rick DiMaio's guests. Sorry he left FOX.

I've noticed Allison Payne's pronunciations more labored than a month or so ago. Also, she pauses more often - breathing with more effort through her nose. Could she be experiencing additional stroke problems?

As said before, get rid of the freaky eyes, the even freakier noise that goes with it, make Mark Suckplessa(sic) do time at noon and leave Saunders @ nine...he was like Cronkite, trustworthy. If they want to get rid of someone old, get rid of Allison...strokey Allison at that...What's next a blonde bimbo on Mark's arm?
I watch BECAUSE they gave the local Chicago news.
What ever happened to John Conrad who did the Lottery? Why did he quit and where did he go? Didn't Magdeleena(sic) do commercials? How old is Kohlmeyer? She and Allison have both had at least one face lift if not more. Am I right? Well, at least I can see Tom S. Thank heavens...Florida
