You are right on. Stop building these fr.eakin' mansions and just build quality sensibly sized homes! It's rediculouse....Does anyone even build a RANCHER anymore?? Nooo....we all need a full basement, 2 or 3 floors, 4-5 bedrooms and a 2-3 car garage!

Wow, that is the saddest statement I have ever heard. Glad I am not an investor in that stock. It is not the governments job to fix the housing market. It's your fault for not managing supply and demand. Their houses are rarely under $750K. It sounds to me like they are asking Congress to create another bubble so they can sell off their inventory for a profit, then deal with a second mortgage crisis, which off course, would not be Toll Brothers problem. Sounds like desperation mode over at Toll.

so much for the economy correcting itself.....this sounds like a desperate measure to save the company. i agree, homes that fit the population are in need, not the McMansions that Toll Brothers is known to produce.

Start building smaller more energy-efficient homes. Even people that can afford the $750k+ price tags don't want to cough up ridiculous amounts of money each month in utilities and maintenance.

All the people who were fooled into playing keep up with the neighbors, by successful advertising campaigns that created demand for those castles, are beginning to realize 6200sq ft is too big. Look at the houses build pre WWII in the 1920's-30's, thats what we should be building now with the addition of sustainability...

Congress should do NOTHING to help scumbag Toll Brothers! They might just have to stop raping the countryside because sales are down. Boo Hoo. Cry me a river. They're resorting to suing municipalities in Bucks County that are trying to enforce their zoning rules. God forbid, anyone tell Tolls what to do. To hell with safety and quality, not to mention responsibility. If any congressman takes up Toll's cause, I will personally lead a campaign to get their rival elected, regardless of political party -- mark my words!

That is well and good, but people can not get mortgages to pay for the homes. Unfornately, Toll does not make homes for the corporate slaves of the whole, only for the top dogs who can afford their homes. How can someone who makes 30 to 50 K afford a home over 1/2 millon dollars. Wake up Mr. Toll all that you are worried about is your salary and retirement fund! Do any of the guys in your company who swing the hammers live in any of the homes you build? I think not! I think that Richie Rich is crying that his salary and stocks will drop, thus he will not be able to
pay for the best things in Life! Why do you live in our world for a while, they you wouldn't be crying like a spoiled rich kid !

Cry me a river Toll Bros! What's the matter? Housing slump creating a problem for the fat cats you employ that sit in ivory towers? Gee, it must be tough trying to support all those mansions you each have at the shore, Fla, etc.; not to mention a yacht or two somewhere. Welcome to the real world. As previous posts have stated, not everyone wants or needs McMansions. Whatever happened to a 2 or 3 bedroom home with 1 or 2 bathrooms? Also, how many folks really use those "gourmet kitchens"? There are plenty of kitchen appliances on the market that do the job just as well as a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Wolf gas range, etc. Perhaps if builders started to use some common sense, they, nor the rest of the world, would be in this predicament.

It is the nature of the beast with any investment..there are ups/downs...that is the risk you take...there are no guarantees with investments..
*profiting is always the goal...however when you charge an amount that is unattainable for a buyer to proceed...adjustment is evident...
*unrealistic prices will dry up the supply
people cannot buy what they cannot afford...hence the foreclosure status at the moment..

Well I hope the government helps average people first before helping a million dollar company.

Maybe toll brothers will take a tip from ford and GM and decide to make what people need and not just what they can slap a high price tag on.

You have to be kidding me!!!! Is GM telling Congress to make people buy expensive to buy and fuel SUVs because their sales have slumped?? Get the hell out of here Tolle!!!

I wish the earth would open up and swallow them. All they do is build expensive crap houses, the same design over and over again, and during the first big T-storm you can watch your roof shingles fly off. Sounds like a great buy to me!!!

Try building qualiy, affordable, green houses for a change you jackazzes!
