Congratulations!!
You've had your childish hissy fit, and are now firmly established yourself as a genuine ignoramus.

That said:
If you'd had sufficient maturity and taken time to read other threads where I've posted, you would have learned that:
(a) I'm a Canadian (and do actually support my country);
(b) I'm not a Toyota supporter (altho' I have no reason to dislike Toyo);
(c) The post you ranted so immaturely about was directed at JJFADS (who is another poster I correspond with regularly);
(d) To a large degree US citizens, US suppliers, and US governments actually benefit when foreign automakers produce cars in the US( so you're advocating killing significant US jobs, profits, tax revenues, etc.)
(e) You completely ignore the fact that many US businesses operate in other countries (so perhaps those countries shouldn't support them?)
(f)Attitudes and conduct like yours are the main reasons why the US is universally disliked throughout the world.
(g) Your views of the world and your self rightious condemnations of others are so blatantly ignorant as to be laughable!

Well I do not care about your other postings! And your arrogance is frankly amusing. The profit from buying foreign cars goes back to the parent company. Bet you probably knew that and some one like you knows just about everything? Right ? I do not completly ignore the fact that if a country does not export enough goods they are destined to fail! I personally do not want this to happen to the USA! Furthermore your sorry Canuck A$$ should be worried as well! The USA has been supporting your economy for centuries. Your views of the world beyond da woods are skewed to say the least. Ill bet your name is squatting bear or maybe Gie! I will await more of your moronic ramblings EH!!!

Interestingly, the newly established ignoramus in this thread sees problems in his country.
Problems, in his mind, which relate to citizens not supporting their country for whatever reason.
There may actually be some merit in what the ignoramus rants about, but there are valid reasons why that situation exists---many of them lie at the feet of the citizens themselves.
The US in many ways is a victim of its own success.
Simply put, that 'success' has resulted in a formerly great country plagued with 'excess and entitlement'.
That said, the ignoramus seeks to attack the problem by rudely ranting at those he sees as not following his beliefs.
Obviously the ignoramus believes the answer to all his country's problems are to just let loose with malice and hateful rhetoric at anyone he chooses to.
Got news for that ignoramus..........His kind of solution ain't gonna do much good.
If anything, the tactics the ignoramus has chosen are only going to make the situation worse.
And in the meantime, the ignoramus will only look more foolish.
Just watch.

OK, so the losses from purchasing domestic cars goes back to the parent company as well. So purchasing a Detroit automobile contributes to their financial woes by your logic.

GM makes a little bit of money and they build another plant in China or Mexico. Nice use of profits.

Foreign automakers make some profit and continue to build plants and operations in the U.S.

FWIW---this bozo you're responding to seems like a world class wacko with an attitude. A sad combination indeed.

Also--don't forget that a healthy share of all automaker profits go to shareholders---a great many of whom live in the US, and other countries around the world.
Those who believe all foreign automaker profits go directly to head office and remain there are a little naive.

Foreign makers must build operations in areas other than Japan to remain viable. You of all people should know this.

Profits go toward increasing shareholder value (profits per se aren't only redistributed in terms of dividends). The REVENUES from sales go back to Japan (for Toyota and Honda) and they can choose whether to cover Cost-of-Goods-Sold, Expenses, or re-invest in product and product development. This last case is where the money stays in Japan. If you've taken an Econ Course, you'd know about the Multiplication of Money.

If you want to compare how much GM re-invests in the US each year as compared to how much Toyota or Honda re-invests in the US each year, you would be very surprised. How close do you think those #s are?? GM has many-times over the # of fabrication plants, assembly plants, engineering centers, process houses, etc than Toyota and Honda combined. And again, if you think for ever Asm Plant GM or Ford closes in the US, Toyota or Honda opens one, you are wrong. And if you think that when GM and Ford layoff 25,000 salaried and 45,000 hourly workers in this country in less than 2 years, that Toyota and Honda will hire this many in the US, you're crazy.

Re the distribution of profits by both foreign and Domestic automakers, JJFADS is essentially correct.
Point being, not all profit goes exclusively to head office.
Some goes back into the business (Capex/ M&R, R&D, pension funding, etc.), and some is disributed to shareholders in the form of dividends.
Re those huge layoffs by GM, Ford, and Chrysler--sadly, that is correct also.
Toyota and Honda have had layoffs in US/Canada too, but not nearly of the above scale---obviously they are less populated and more centrallized---therefor somewhat less affected by overall economic downturn/excess capacity issues.
Re significant hiring at any automaker site in the US or Canada---unfortunately there won't be a great deal of that for any of them over the next year or so.
I believe this may also apply to any discretionary expenditures for the time being also.
I would imagine budgets are pretty tight these days at any of them, regardless of country of origin.
Automaking is not a very pleasant place to be, for now at least!

Great post –

For now, the leaner more agile maker will do just “ok.” It is not a good time for auto makers and the future is not bright. Many people are holding on to their cars longer (good idea).

Let’s watch the auto parts sector flourish.

On second thought, don’t you own a machine shop of some sort? This could actually help your business in the long term..--??

Good to be you.
It's actually two auto parts supply stores (London and Windsor)but also do engine rebuilding.
You are correct, there has been a significant business upswing since 08, and we attribute that to people holding onto cars longer.
Same phenom also applies to do-it-yourself home renovation/repair businesses--ie, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
Their volumes have increased dramatically in the last year or so.

You're in the mood to spend money on a favourite hobby or pastime today, so take care if you're supposed to making every penny count at the moment. The temptation to treat yourself to something that you'll undoubtedly enjoy will be too strong to resist, and the trouble is that you might not restrict yourself to just one item either. It looks like being an extravagant day!
