How does pouring $1 BILLION into a U.S. marketing campaign equate to money going to Japan you ignoramus gooch monkey?

Toyota will be spending $1 BILLION with a U.S. marketing firm to sell more product in the U.S.

End of discussion.

Like the 1 billion dollars they are spending in the US as detailed in the article?

The money earned in NA does not go directly to Japan. The majority of it is re-invested back into this market.

Instead of repeating your tired rhetoric, why not support the company that sells the car with the most American parts content and the most American assembly - the Toyota Camry.

Trying to convince Vance1 of any error in his thinking is a waste of your time.
He's too far out in the fringe--an ulta right wing redneck who (literally) advocates killing people who don't agree with his twisted outlook on life.
And that's the truth!

Wow! Clueless indeed. Did you read the part where they are spending $1,000,000,000 in the U.S. for advertising? I know it was mentioned before by someone else, but Toyota is a publicly traded company which means any Americans that own stock in the company profits when Toyota profits.

Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money. That's what Toyota is doing. They can't just sit around and be happy that they became #1. Now they're the top dog and everyone is gunning for them. BYD from China already said that they are going for Toyota's spot by 2025.

Too bad son, you don't make the rules.
Good thing too.
Better get used to it.
You fail to understand that what makes your country great is a thing called "Freedom".
And freedom of choice is one of those many freedoms people in your country enjoy.
Your kind don't want that freedom, but thank God, there aren't many of you.
And as I said, you don't make the rules.

One liberal in my family - my youngest brother.

I tried buying an American SUV (2004 Suburban) a few years ago when my wife wanted a new truck but it was made in Mexico.

My neighbor owns a Honda Accord that was made in the USA using parts made in the USA and assembled by Americans

Which one supports America and the American worker?

Toyota is making the exact same mistakes that the "former" GM did for years. The latest is this $1 billion spending spree on marketing. Why not invest that money in development, engineering, and quality? GM for years, did that and it hurt them in the long run. Toyota's new vehicle quality has come under question the last couple of years starting with the Tundra. Why not spend that money to improve their product? If you build a really great product the word will spread on it's own with a little advertising and the public will come. Toyota has already sunk hundreds of millions into NASCAR which is headed into the toilet. Why waste more on advertising. Did they not learn from GM spending too much on advertising and too little on their product? Just pissing money away, really.

Wrong! US based Honda is setup as it's own division. It can't simply "funnel all the money back to Japan". Corporate finance doesn't work that way.

It's "you're" by the way. Short for "you are". As in "you're a tool"

I don't give a rip about North America. Talk to me about USA. Last time I checked a map of the USA it didn't include Canada and Mexico.

Gotta go check to see if there were any drugs stashed in my Chevy Suburban when they made it in Mexico. Later.

Listen up Where do Toyota?s Profits Go?

Toyota, for instance, is known as a Japanese company. Or is that definition a bit too simplistic? The question is appropriate because Toyota has financial, sales, production and headquarters facilities almost everywhere it does business.

"So what," you say, "Toyota’s profits get sent back to the home office in Japan.

Well, that’s correct.

Dealing with companies that are headquartered offshore can seem equally confusing.

Toyota averages about 68% profits and in some vehicles – the Sienna, for instance - it’s as high as 85%.

That surely is alot of cash flowing oversea's
Buy American. Toyota is still a Japanese company. 100% of GM's profits go to Detroit. and visa versa

Toyota is no longer playing around. Forget the politically correctness crap. Toyota is about to take no prisoners. Rednecks- hide your women and children. Indians: don't worry no one wants your women or children . They are safe.

Don't try to discuss the intricacies of corporate finance. You obviously don't have a clue how cash flows through international organizations.

Once again, they simply cannot funnel all the cash back to Japan. It doesn't work like that. Same goes for GM, Ford, etc that operate in other countries. It gets reported on a balance sheet but as a division of the company, that division either remains cash rich or cash poor.

Or is that definition a bit too simplistic for you?

Aside from the Cadillac CTS and the Corvette, GM makes nothing that I'm interested in. IF I was going to buy a sedan I'd take a Camry or an Accord over a Chevy or Buick any day. IF I was going to buy a hybrid I'd take the Camry or Prius over the Volt (mostly because it's still unproven). Although the Fusion hybrid is not too bad.
