I've worked for Target for 8 years and like you have seen the raises lessen, hours cut, more responsibility added to all positions and moral within stores decline. Unfortunately the union is not the answer. Propaganda by those on here to suggest its the solution is just what they want you to think. Unions are run like big business. The economy sucks and if you think Target is the only company doing this to employees ask around. Your job is what you make it and if you only want and expect from your job you will always be disappointed. Target isn't you issue the state of our economy is.

<quoted text>Yes a small deduction and a very good one. They get you more payroll rises and larger ones. As we know Target rises lately have been from very little to none.Ok Think about this. Every year when its time to get a Yearly rise. They can't give you very much. Because Target or your store didn't make very much money that year. So they can only give you from zero to fifty cents. But they are building more Targets all the time. You have to be making money to do that. And if you are not why would you want to. and as of now Target can fire you for anything. With a union you can appeal. And the union can get hearing and they investigate. and make sure it was for a good reason. They stand up for you. Say you have been working for Target for two years and you have always been on time and come to work every day .Suddenly you are going thru something like sickness , divorse , etc. You start missing work. Well target will not like that. You are missing too much work. They fire you. you appeal, the union looks into it. And see that you are a great employyee until now. And you don't deserve to be let go. You just need to fix whatever and you will be back to normal. and you get you job back. Right now they fire you for what ever they want. And there is hardly anything you can do about it. They protect and fight for good treatment and good pay and pay rises. Thats their job. Why and how do you think all those people up north get great pay. And retire with great retirements. Because they have Unions up north. Why do you think big companies like Walmart and Target do not want you to join a union. Because they will not be able to do what they are doing now. They are deathly afraid of unions. If we have a union they will have to pay out more money. So they won't make as much. Thats why they show you videos. And say the union are bad guys. They are tricking you to believe that.
You clearly don't work in my store. As a part of the leadership team I can tell you how difficult it is to terminate a team member in your workcenter. It is nearly impossible. Also, I have nothing but the utmost respect for my team members. I expect a lot from them, but they know that their hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Also, if they have concerns that they bring to me personally or through chat sessions, they know that I will make those concerns my top priority. I started with target as a team member and am now a Senior Team Lead. I feel I know the company in and out, and I can assure you that at my store the leaders have the utmost integrity and they truly look out for every team member (all 265 of them). I am sorry that you have not had the same Target experience that I have because thus far it has been awesome.

Hey - I agree with you. I have a question I would like to ask you off of the forum. Is there a way to private message or email you?

<quoted text> You are one of a few to feel that way. you must of just started at Target. or the changes have not hit your store yet. Give it alittle time. All of us could not be wrong. Target was a Great company to work for. But not any longer. Its not the people at the store . The problem is corporate making all the cut backs. With less team leaders and team members and less hours . And they are adding more tasks. And forget about raises . Some people received .08 to .20 last year. and that with a good review. That kind of raise is a joke. When everything is going up Gas , electric, Rent, water etc.

Does anyone work for Target that doesn't get all of your breaks on time, or asked to work when your technically off the clock or have already punched out? We are trying to do something about this and would like to know if there are others that may benefit from this effort. Please write me :)

Call your state labor department immediately! Make sure you document everything the requests are made to skip your breaks. Wally world had a huge lawsuit about this very thing. Do not discuss this with your HR department. They will set you up to fire you. Be smart and know your rights! Good luck!

Some of my issues are corporate and some are the fact that there are crappy execs at my store. Working POG, I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't - they change their minds constantly and contradict themselves every other day. Of course it's all nit-picky things that aren't imperative to the job itself! It's not (supposed to be) a stressful job - but that creates useless stress. C'mon, this is TGT, we are not saving lives! Then my STL walks around inventing rules like no wearing headphones at 4am… just because he's "at the top of the pyramid."
The most recent thing that gets me is the corporate Well-Being Program. Apparently TGT cares about each and every one of us and wants us to have the best lives possible. Now they tuition reimbursement on "work related" classes, yet the people that go back to school have to work on class days. I would love to get out more, but I work at TGT. I would love to start a family, but I work at TGT. I would love to make more money, but I work at TGT.
I WOULD LOVE TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, but I work at TGT.
How did this opening at midnight ever come about and how is it a good idea? Our well-being was not taken into consideration. I will have barely enough time for my food coma to settle in before I have to be back at TGT.
If anyone has any advise on how to walk into to work everyday and not boil with rage, please let me know.

I don't think that guns are not allowed in the store. It like if a tm buys beer, it can't be kept in your locker. Must be put in your car. Also, maybe considered a threat to guests or tm's, if they saw shape of gun in your pocket.

The issue of leaving it in my car is.... having to wait out side to be let in by key carriers after hours. I arrive 5 min before start times. I & others have waited 10 min and longer to be let in.
Busy, careless, thoughtless? It is unsafe, I am having to bite my lip when team member safety is the huddle topic!
I didn't know that about beer. I have been with
Target for many years. With reciept attached I thought all was good.

ok question for ya'll locked in stores at close? does that happen to you? Didn't walmart employees sue and win over this? we are locked in usually 5-15 minutes before lod decides to let us out. once for 45 minutes. have been told (recently) we can do punch corrections. however someone did that once and.wrote down the wrong time and was 5 minutes off so they fired her. btw she found out she was fired by the operator telling her she was.able to fill all her shifts for the following week
How crappy

wish we could all work at your.store. I'm sick of being treated like crap and lied to over and over again for 5 years! if I could I.would leave tomorrow. but I have to keep healthcare. there is NOTHING FFF at any of.the Portland Oregon stores. when I first started it was the best company I ever worked.for. but not anymore! I absolutely hate going to work. yet my work ethics are strong so I still work my best and.just.try to.survive. but last.years.reviews were rough! to.make sure they didn't pay me too much I was.scored an."e " where as every.other year I got "ex " even.tms were confused and said it was wrong. so there are more crappy stores.than good ones. hate to say it but.Target does suck!

I have work for Target for 3 years now and still loving it. Howerver ever scence seasonal ended hours sucks and are always cut. I need 20-25 hours a week in order to servive. For the past two weeks i have been getting 14 to 19 hours!:c
pluss i was on medical leave for 2 weeks in Dec. so im trying to recover from loss of income. Heres the part that i think is a bit odd.I understand after holiday seasons are low hours for a while till it picks up but i got a call from Target today saying
"Hi there, sad to say we are cutting hours once again and you are the chosen one to be cut this saterday, please enjoy your weekend."
I felt like i was singled out in a negative way and think its odd for them to cut me when i need the hours after my whole medical leave. They could have chosen someone else that had a steady hours for a couple of weeks but to do this...i feel like crap. Im a good worker with perfect scores and records...i dont know, mabe just beating myself up i guess. Does anyone know how leads select who gets cut cause i think in my case its unfair.

Reviews are a joke. FFF is an even worse joke.

The economy sucks & Target is very happy to exploit tm's for as long as they can until things pick up.

In my store we have many tm's working through breaks just so they'll be lucky enough to get an extra day scheduled. TMs who cannot do the job of TWO people AND happy to do it are treated like crap.

Union Wanted wrote:
Team members at Target need a union. Anyone know where and who we can contact a union. We need a union . I will sign up and I know 98% of the other would too. Target is out of control. With a labor union they would not be able to treat their employees the way they do.
. Target will never get a union(I personally would sign up) I've worked for target for almost 8 years in same store in jersey.many times it has been brought up and HR amost passed out.he gets very, very angry.then again his paychecks don't suffer(and let's not forget those yearly bonuses) are hours go down more every week.I'm a single mom and can't. Live off of 20 hour workworks.I am experienced throughout the whole store and am always a top performer.and wow,I got a .24 cent raise.you can't quit because there just aren't any jobs out there.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
