I am on medicare, have aarp medicare rx. The cost of Pantoprazole that I have to pay even though it is a generic is $90.00. This is unexcusable. You are robbing the poor and you should do something about it. I don't take this out of fun but necessary.....

In Europe, the 40mg version costs about 27 euro (less than $40,-) per 30. My wife picked them up yesterday at Walgreens here in Texas at a whopping $117,-. Somebody is filling his or her pockets!

They want 7 dollars a pill for protonix and about 5 a piece for generic. I found that from Canada I can get a generic (from Cipla in India) that will only charge 38 cents a pill! Do some shopping online. I could make my Medicaid pay for them locally, but I can not have the taxpayer ripped off like that on my behalf.

I just spoke to someone at AARP MedicareComplete about this very issue. Apparently sometime last year Pantoprazole became more expensive than Protonix. Pantoprazole was a tier 3 drug and Protonix was a tier 2. Since Pantoprazole was costing everyone more money, AARP MC SecureHorizons dropped it from their formulary. Go figure.....a generic costing more than a brand name. Has this world gone crazy?

no offence George I will take my chances with any insurance company than a bunch of big government liberals any day. Name one government agency that runs efficiently and as designed you won't find on and this will be the worst of them yet. Lets keep America free and lets deal with the insurance company of our choice! Big government always = Bad government.

It was CMS that changed the formulary and made the generic Tier 3 and Protonix Tier 2. True, the plans could choose to cover something more than Medicare requires, but most plans do follow suit. It is'nt AARP Medicare Complete/Secure Horizons. It is virtually EVERY Medicare Advantage plan and Medicare RX plan.

Unbelieveable what protonix and / or Pantoprazole costs, even WITH insurance and now since there are all these OTC drugs my insurance won't over this anymore. The only stuff that works, but insurance won't cover it. Premiums go up & coverage goes down !! Whats wrong with this picture !!!

Dear "reality check" then you richly deserve whatever the 400-500% profit pharmaceutical companies & Rx insurance rapists give 'ya! I would love to have had the health care reform proposed by the "awful liberals" get passed instead of the watered-down useless drivel the republican privateers pushed down the throats of Americans. Eat your republican drake!

Pantoprazole is now on BCBS's "require pre-approval" list of medicines. I think this is because Prevacid is now available OTC however in only 1/2 the dosage, and taking two is outside the directions.

The Government in their infinite wisdom has now said NO MORE FSA on OTC... which is a double-screw now... FDA won't approve 40mg Pantoprazole for OTC, BCBS Fed Plan won't pay for 40 MG Pantoprazole, and can't use FSA anymore either...

It's a big conspiracy.

Ah well... I am going to pay $120/month out of my pocket for my Pantoprazole 40mg which is the only thing that seems to keep me from getting Esophageal Cancer.

I have a Hiatal Hernia and multiple Ulcers. I have been on Protonix/Pantoprazole for about 2 years now. In any case this is the only medication that they supply that is a prevetative so my health doesn't becoming worse. Krogers is charging outta pocket $207.00 for a thirty day supply. The worst part is I have researched many insurance companys and none will cover my medication. What family can afford to pay this a month. Let alone a family to feed, bills and the worst being laid off from your job. This is riduculous! Not only that but, I have been in the hospital in severe pain due to the lack of my medication! They should be paying my Hospital bills!! I found a website that hopfully might help me and maybe it will help you. Its called Prescription Hope at www.prescriptionhope.com . They have a printable Pre-Qualifying Applicatiton. If any luck I will for sure let you all know! I feel all of your pain and I hope one way or another we can somehow get this medication worry/stress free! God bless you all!

Hello everyone! I just ran across a cheap outta pocket Pharmacy. Its called Canadian RXStore, here is the website canadianrxstore.net . Just type in Protonix and it gives you 20mg or 40mg. I take Protonix 40mg twice daily. I just paid $180.00 (which would be a month supply at a regular pharmacy) for a 4 1/2 month supply 270 pills! So your looking at like $40 bucks a month instead of paying 180 to 210 a month for a 30 day supply! Just wanted to put that out there. I know we all don't have the money to afford this medication. I know I sure don't!! Just looking out to help everyone or anyone that this could help out finacially because I know for sure I don't have the money. I hope any information I am able to dig up can help you all let alone myself!

I am from Germany and live in Germany.
I´m taking Pantoprazol 40mg everyday since July´2010.
It is free over here. I had real bad problems with my stomache, i went to my doctor and he gave me the prescription, when i went to the Pharmacy to get my medication ( usually we pay 5.-Euro per prescription), but after the lady told me it´s free i was more then happy. After words, i found out because a friend of mine take Pantoprazol 40mg also, that it is really cost free here this medicine.
I really feel bad for you guys, i know how it is over there with expensive medications...it´s really ripp off....the whole system it´s just horrorible!!!

I wish everyone a Good Health

Something just got fixed with the Pantoprazole pricing!
Last year (2010), a 90 day supply of 40mg cost my medical plan $299.25 each quarter.
This month (Feb 2011), the latest refill only cost $47.20!!!!

The rich don't give a shit about the millions in this country that live on fixed income and can not afford these expensive medications.
What a shame for a rich country

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
