Symantec Visa Rebate card

Just recieved my rebate from Symantec in the mail - a stupid VISA debit card.

These guys should be hung!! Now instead of depositing a rebate check in the bank, I have to figure out how to spend exactly $42 somewhere.

Bunch of nitwits. Did they fire all the smart Veritas people and just hire more dumb idiots?

I got them too and wont buy Symantic products again if they continue this crap. Used a $20 one the other night at Texas Road house for a $20.49 bill. Gave the waiter the card and 50 cents. He then pocketed the 50 cents and put the $20.49 on the $20 card. If you look on Symantic/Visa site. Sez a negative balance can result in a $15.00 charge. Called them and they ask me if I would like to cancel the card? I say no, I used it and am trashing it. They say then, they will cancel it. Why do you have to cancel a rebate card. This is a scam by Symantec, the folks who are suppose to prevent scams! Now I got to go deal with Texas Roadhouse about how the dumb waiter stoe my 50 cents and cause me more trouble!

Count yourself lucky you even got a rebate card. Symantec rejected my rebate for "missing UPC." I sent everything required - checked the envelope three times and kept copies. When I complained I was told to submit a copy of the receipt, UPC, or packing slip to a Miami address called "resubmissions" to get my rebate. I sent the receipt and UPC copies. Today I received a postcard stating that my rebate would not be honored due to "missing UPC." Be very careful! I will report them to the FTC and next year buy a different product.

I got these crap Visa cards in lieu of the cash promised by the Fry's Ad and the Symantec rebate offer. I am really pissed off by this. Obviously, it's a ploy so you won't get the full rebate. Stores aren't going to want to ring up each sale twice, once on the rebate card and one for the cash balance -- if their electronic cash registers even make that possible. And, of course, you'll have the people behind you in line staring at you, thinking you are trying to use a bad Visa card. I complained to the manger of the Fry's where I bought the Symantec product -- the manager acknowledged that the Fry's ad showed cash rebates, but wouldn't do anything because he said the problem is with Symantec. This is clearly false advertising, and I'm thinking of reporting it to whoever deals with that these days.

I got a $30 debit card with a purchase. No one will take it and the phone support says it is worth $12. The card clearly says $30 on it, but I get rejected everytime I use it as not valid.
This is the last Symantec product I will buy. If you give a rebate, take it off at the point of purchase.

Ordered from Fry's to day and then downloaded the rebate and found out about the card not cash and canceled my order. I did this before I found above comments. I plan to change to another software co.

I too got the visa card, used it, there is about $20 remaining and when I've tried to use it was told there was no credit remaining. This is the last time I use Norton products, not only for the rebate visa card, but for all the problems of putting the security system on the computer!

I agree. There is no way to track the balance of the visa card. It is so frustrating. I will not buy Norton product if the rebate is in visa card.

I see why all of you are using this site to register your complaints! There appears to be no other way, since you can't seem to get anything except recordings that are absolutely no help. I'll admit to not reading the microscopic print that explains the $3/mo. penalty for not using the card within 6 mo., but the front of the card says how much it is worth and when it expires (but NOT that they will be worthless by then!). And there's no place to find out why they don't work(Spent about 20 minutes at Staples while two different employees tried to convince the register to accept them!). So, I'm joining all of you who are blacklisting Symantec products, unless they give the option of getting rebates by check.

Go to www.symantecrebates.com/rebatereward just like it says on the back of the card if you want to know the balance. It will also tell you where you used the card if you forgot. If you know the balance you can tell the salesperson what to put on the card in order to use the remaining balance. You people are a bunch of whiners. Welcome to the 21st century.

p.s. I like to write the balance on the front of the card with a Sharpie marker so I don't forget. You can also look up staples rewards on the same screen. Just type in the tracking number.

It is best to use these cards when you order things online. That's what I have been doing and so far, has worked.

I used my $30 rebate card to buy a $30 gift card at Home Depot... not problem at all. I buy enough at Home Depot that I will easily use the gift card.

I have received two of these card. Have used them with no problem. It is just like a debit card (ATM Card). I like getting my reward this way.

I have to agree, there are a bunch of whiners out there. I used mine at a gas station today. Walked in and gave it to the cashier to charge $20 to a pump and got my gas. The pump stopped on $20 even. No Problems. Left and shredded the card.

Oh WHAAAAAA - that's all I'm reading. I received my $20.00 rebate card...have used it at 4 different places...and have enjoyed the free lunches from it. From the last place I tried to use it...I know my balance is under $1.59. Thanks for the free lunches Norton and Frys - I appreciate it!!!

BAIT and SWITCH. promised a rebate--get a debit card--but call it a credit card when you try to use it. rejected regularly by vendors Swipe it and the result is "Authorization declined" OK so call the number on the card for assistance---the electronic answering service hangs up on you.(3x's)!! OK try the web site---here's what I get---a gripe column-- but no answers or assistance. Anybody want a worthless rebate??? credit???? card? oh yeah---Iwas supposed to get two cards $20 & $30 --got the $30, no $20 and can't use the $30!!!!! I want my .42 cents postage back!!

I got them also. I have had a nightmare trying to use these stupid cards. I will not buy another product that has a rebate in the form of a debit card.If norton's and HP are going this route they have lost my business. I saw on HP's site tonight that they were doing the same thing when they offer rebates

I got my rebate card ,no problem. shopped at other stores and worked fine.can't seem tpo get my balance though. the tracking # don't work..oh well..such is life huh?
