EXCERPT

Sunoco plans to shut down the Philadelphia refinery by July if it can’t sell the facility, which the USW says employs about 900, including 600 union members, as well as another 300 contractors.
Houston-based ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) said in September that it had decided to sell the Trainer refinery based on the amount of money it would have to invest in the facility to make it competitive.
Sunoco is exiting the refining business to concentrate on gasoline retailing and oil and oil-product storage and shipping through a publicly traded partnership it controls, Sunoco Logistics Partners LP.(NYSE:SXL)

MY TAKE

Sun walked away from an environmental nightmare refinery in my hometown Duncan Oklahoma 20 maybe 30 years ago. That is the way BIG uncontrolled business does it business.
