Of course it's natural, fish in a polluted pond that is also oxygen deficient die. How the park director let it get that way should be the story. No Fairview fence,No Fish,No problem says demaio.

The NB Parks Dept, has been using pesticides, hericide and chemical fertilizers on the grass. Do it every spring. The stuff is toxic and leaches into the pond. Result: Dead fish.

That pond is filthy. I walk arounf it and all you see is garbage in it. No wonder the fish are dying.

COULD be that everyone in the neighborhood "fertilized" and or "pesticided" their lawns at the same time (it being spring and all) and last week plus the weekend rain caused toxic run-off into the pond... If this is the case, the amphibians are at high risk of death.

... sounds to me like the either the PH is too high and/or some stupid fishermen were throwing corn in the water to catch trout ... which (the corn) can't be digested by trout (or other fish) and they die from it ...

Which is probably why there was a dead seagull mentioned in the story. It probably ate the poisoned fish and *gak*, keeled over.
