Pioneer Press 100: 3M and good-old manufacturing boost this year's list

Full story: TwinCities.com

Two and a half years after the financial collapse, in an age where Wall Street is agog over Google and Apple's latest iGadget, who would have guessed a bunch of decades-old manufacturers would be leading the way to recovery? That's the way things look in Minnesota, where the state recently reported 12-month job gains of 7,800 in the manufacturing ...

After the Republican legislature finishes cutting more business tax, these model companies can become even more global..........
Why didn't the article include McDonald's? Considering George Bush made the construction of a burger, a statistical manufacturing job.

3M should be tariffed up wazoo for sending 65% of their human resources to foreign countries to make the rich richer. All companies should be tariffed that send over 25% of their human resources to third world countries.

Republicans, you are so screwed

Yesterday, I wrote about a poll that showed a whopping 80 percent of Americans were opposed to cutting Medicare. And the Republicans wouldn’t just cut Medicare, they would end it completely. But there’s even worse news for them: Even if they lie and claim that their plan would “preserve Medicare,” the numbers still look bleak.

Here’s why. The Republican plan to “preserve Medicare” would “preserve” it by turning it into a voucher program. That voucher program would effectively end Medicare because it wouldn’t come even close to covering the cost of seniors’ insurance. But even if the GOP pretends that’s not the case, they still have to try to make the case for a voucher program. And Americans don’t like that either.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll found that even if you didn’t mention cuts, and simply asked about vouchers, Americans are strongly opposed to the GOP plan.

What is your view about the future of Medicare for senior citizens?
•65%- it should remain as a program of defined benefits.
•34%- it should be changed to a program where people receive a check or voucher to shop for private health insurance.

In other words, if the Democrats effectively explain that the Republicans voted to end Medicare, the Republicans are in deep trouble. If the GOP can counter that they didn’t vote to end Medicare, just turn it into a voucher system, they’re still in trouble, just not quite as deep.

Tell Congress: Leave Medicare Alone
Sign our emergency petition:

Dear Members of Congress,

Just one month after voting to extend billions of dollars in oil industry subsidies, and one week after it was reported that G.E. and other major corporations essentially paid no U.S. taxes due to loopholes and refunds, How can you consider an extremist proposal to pass the cost of corporate welfare and the burden of our deficit onto the elderly, the poor and the struggling middle-class?

REJECT Rep. Paul Ryan’s draconian plan to punish Americans in need. Leave Medicare alone and rein in corporate welfare.

Signed,

Fill out the online petition at

What crap! Anybody that interprets this story by suggesting that corporate companies like 3M care about their workforce should ultimately get their brains examine!! NEWSFLASH PEOPLE!!! Corporate America DOES NOT CARE about your puny white collar and blue collar JOB!!!! They only care about making obscene profits on Wall Street and screwing the little guy over on main street by robbing their jobs away and depleting everyone with below living wage standards. This means the rich elites are getting richer by the minute and you're JUST NOTHING to these people, just a stupid lemming that spend all your life in a factory pulling levers until the 11th hour comes upon you!

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Scorpio

Today's Lunar Eclipse at the Full Moon stirs up powerful emotions during the next two weeks (as it has done since the Gemini Solar Eclipse last month), and it may not be a very pleasant experience. Are you feeling rather compulsive and obsessive? Financial issues could be a problem,, especially if they appear to threaten your sense of emotional security. Don't let jealousy or envy make you do things that will set other people against you.
