Please wait...
Sunrise Senior living is faking the State of Penna out. Right before a state visit, Sunrise puts all kinds of money into repairs and other stuff that the state will be happy with when they come in, but for the rest of the year, all money is to be UNSPENT!
Fire drills, state forms, training forms, and cash expenses are all reviewed and updated as needed the week before a visit. Not all year around like they should be.
If a form is missing from 5 months ago, Sunrise makes it up. If a fire drill is missing, Sunrise makes it up. If money is missing, Sunrise makes it up.
Pills have been missing, resident money has been missing and much more.
When the state comes in, they are taken to the better rooms by a Sunrise worker to avoid the worst rooms.
One such resident that is always skipped is Lucy DeVourno of the Sunrise of Granite Run. She has been abused, kicked, and left without anything for hours. She has spoken to the odesman, the state and anyone else, but Sunrise has always made stuff up like, "oh she's just crazy."
Windows are screwed shut, there are no visualfire alarms in any of the rooms for the deaf, stairwell are often blocked, water temp is often off, urine smell in the carpeting is covered by poweder and spray, cabinets that have pills and cleaning supplies are often left open, bleach is stored and hidden, fire doors do not always work, care managers often sleep at night going into model suites or empty rooms, the HVAC is constantly broken, and employees are often told they must do stuff they aren't supposed to do.

You should mention about the care manager at Granite Run that was stopped by Target security for retail theft, ran from them, captured by the Springfield police, is awaiting trial and still allowed to work at Granite Run as a care manager that goes into residents rooms and has access to all their belongings. Don't forget this one.

I used to work for Sunrise and I have never seen anything bad that has been mentioned in all this post, I am not defending this company but they know what they are doing. thats a big lied about pills and cleaning supplies are left open, they dont let you do that and for your information there is not bleach in any property because they can not even ordered. its not allowed to have bleach at all.by the way the state visits they go in any room they want and they dont let anyone to tell them wich room can they go in.

I recently forwarded this to the ethics hotline for sunrise senior living, they don't even have the ethics to respond. I am concerned with some of the business practices at Sunrise of Leominster particulary in regard to administrative behaviours. 1. Is it appropriate to hand an employee the new code of conduct after that employee has been on sick leave for over 3 weeks and demand that they sign it immediately while they are watching so that it will be signed with in the required time frame of Sunrise policies. This happened to me and I was not given an opportunity to review the new version prior to signing it. 2. Each community is required to have daily stand up meetings, I understand that it is impossible to always meet that requirement however when QSR reviews a community they should not lie to that person in order to score a yes on that requirement. 3. Weekly sales meetings were a requiremet in our community between our ED and the DCR's as I assume it is in most communities in order to execute a good strategy to maintain occupancy. However when these meetings do not occur for weeks or months and then as a DCR you are asked to report to the ASM or Area Operations Manager that they are of course happening, 4. Is it ethical for an ED to ridicule their employee for being a social worker and how they practice their vocation and then when a family member of a resident or potential resident has a question that a social worker can assist with then cordially invite them to speak with the community social worker. I was working as a DCR not a Social worker while at Sunrise of Leominster. 5. Is it apporpriate behaviour for an ED to expect all employees to meet their job requirements while not fulfilling his own or even turning a blind eye to other employees avoiding their duties. 6. As sunrise is a company that holds high it code of ethics and "morality" it is also a contradiction for the executive director or other staff to lie to referral sources or potential residents and their families about the services offered in the community or the "freshness" of the strawberry dessert that the "chef" made from scratchwhen it really came from a can? Or to have the chef run out to the herb garden and pick fresh herbs to impress customers or to have their own dog visit the community several days a week in order to meet the sunrise signature of having a house dog for the community. While these are only a few of my observations and experieinces while working for Sunrise of Leominster they do call into question the daily practices of the community and in particular the management staff. As a social worker working in the field of geriatrics I would never recommend your commuities to any one that I am working with I could not with any integrity tell them that all that sunrise represents is truthfull. Sincerely

I agree 110%!!!! Everyone in Leominster knows what is going on...the kitchen needs trained, clean, professional Chef's-NOT high school graduates to prepare food for residents who pay $6,000.00 a month!!! The residents go without quality food...why??? To save money for the ED's pocket. NOTHING is homemade-everything is from a box then heated up...yuckkkkk! This is really abuse to the residents...starving them. AND what about the mouse poop in the refrigerator...tell that to the Board of Health & all new possible moveins.

And to ALL you Care Manergers in Leominster, and every Sunrise in this country,if not for your compassion, dedication, comminme nt,Sunrise Senior Living, would not be sucssesful!!!,just wish,Dept.Heads would relize how HARD you all work, but then most all family, and other team members DO Know! AND THAT'S what matters!!! Merry Christmas to all team members!
