I agree with Jackie, build it in the BMOC. I'm sure they'd love to be bought out.

Another Mall. People don't have money to shop now. What a waste of land.

Granted, a lot of people are out of work...but there are still a lot of people that are employed. For isntance, I was at Concord Mills this past weekend, and there was not a parking space to be found! Not to mention, this outlet will create a few hundred jobs. I don't quite understand all of the negative Nancy's around here...we get a bit of good news and hear about construction of new businesses such as the outlet bringing new jobs and the same people that complain about not having jobs want to complain about new stores and construction because they don't have jobs!

Thank the LORD, I've got a job and plenty of money to go shopping with if I want to. I'm just saying there are plenty of places to put this new outlet center to employee people in the retail as well as the contruction industry without knocking down more trees. The BMOC is a virtual wasteland as is the Colonial Mall. They really should consider putting this new outlet there. They could just bulldoze these places and start over. The parking lots are already there so that would save them some money and it would keep these facilities from become hangouts for misguided individuals.

I think some of you are missing the big picture. I live in the community where the shops will be built. Most of the residents are retired or seniors on a fixed income. Having the shops in this area will raise our taxes which will result in more foreclosures. They have already taken away part of our yards for a sidewalk that no one asked for, they have built Alamance Regional Out Patient Center, and now a they are building a shopping center. Higher taxes is the name of this game and the residents in this older community will be the ones suffering for it. Lastly, shopping malls also bring crime with them. BMOC would have been ideal.

I live in a neighborhood litterally 30 sec (driving time) from the location of these outlets. Why can't they just let Mebane be the small home town it's supposed to be?! The traffic will be ridiculous for such a small area!!! UGH!!!

Does anyone know if there will be a Polo Ralph Lauren outlet store at the new Tanger Factory Outlet Center coming to Alamance County?

I'm glad it's going in Mebane; it gets old having to drive to either Burlington (where they already have a brand new mall!!! Hello?!!) or Durham to shop. Sure, there'll be more traffic, but the traffic is already increasing anyway as more people relocate to this area. Bring it to Mebane!

I am very excited about the new outlet. It beats having to drive to Myrtle Beach, SC to shop. It will bring jobs opportunities which is also great. Great decision making.

for all of you who don't know BMOC is owned by tanger as well, its already been bought out. In fact they renovated it 2 years ago, gave it a face lift but lets face it...no one wants to put nice stores there. And how about providing jobs for this community? God knows Alamance County needs it

In total agreeance with you! People need to look at this as an opportunity for this little county to grow. Crawl out from under your comfy boxes & realize that if your city is not growing, then it will never prosper

All of the people who thinks this is a good idea do not live directly by the mall. The traffic will not complicate your lives, your taxes will not increase, and you are probably not on a fixed income. Please be thoughtful of us who be affected by all of the above. We are all for increasing employment, but not at the expense of others.

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it! I live right across from where the outlets are going to be built and I think it's a great thing. Elderly people aren't the only ones that live here, there are young as well. Yes, there are several people that don't have jobs but regardless of where it is built, that fact doesn't change. I think it's an excellent idea.

You are right, there are young people that live in the area as well. But remember that young people of today are the elderly of tomorrow. So consider yourself blessed and fortunate and may you never have to be single and on a fixed income. Stay blessed and happy holidays to you and yours.
