Judged: 12 8 3 And what would you do with it if you got the water rights? Does NAPI use all the water it has had for years? How would you get the water to your land? Would the taxpayers then have to pay for pipelines for you to get your water? Would your land actually be able to grow anything even if it had water? If the NN is a 3rd world country as you say, it is because of your leadership or lack thereof. No one has ever stopped you from drilling wells for water have they? No one has ever stopped you from bringing electricity to your home if you wanted to pay for it just like everyone else does if they live in the country. You have to help yourself, the world doesn't owe anyone anything. It is what you work for that you will have. People need to quit thinking they are owed something because of something that happened decades and centuries ago. You are what you make of yourself. People that have farmed and irrigated land for decades should not lose their water for someone that maybe, someday, if they ever get some ambition and their government decides to let them, and they get some more money from the government will maybe try and plant a few plants or get a cow or two. Farmers are what are feeding us and frankly, there aren't a whole lot of them left around. Look how few fruit orchards remain here when their used to be hundreds. |

Judged: 6 4 2 over 100 years, not only resources but millions and millions of dollars. Can we name them as dependents on our tax returns? There is no accountability for millions of dollars received, not only for the annual fair, take notice of last year when there was 2 watchdog groups and the money still vanished. NAPI receives millions of dollars a year and has never been profitable. Nor is there accountability for failed business enterprises. There is many government paid services, hospitals, schools and just about any government agency that provides services. When are you going to be independent? Quit living in the past, plan for the future and follow through. It has been proven many people have stolen funds from different areas and yet there is nothing done to them and that is why the theft continues. The Navajo Nation is a sovereign nation which has or wants supreme and independent power or authority in government as possessed or claimed by a state or community without outside interference. This means indepedence not only from outside interference in government affairs but independent on making the millions of dollars invested productive. |

Judged: 7 4 3 What belongs to the Navajo Nation? If you are saying water "belongs" to the Navajo Nation, isn't that what all the millions and millions and millions poured into NAPI was supposed to take care of? If you had all the water in the world you still wouldn't do anything with it. |

Judged: 3 3 3 Did you know that: 1. The US federal government, in collusion with non-Navajo businesses, have stolen billions and billions of dollars from the Navajo Nation. Case in point, during the Reagen Administration, the NN priced it's Black Mesa coal at a royalty rate of $45. DOI Secretary Hodel, in collusion with Peabody Coal, cut the price to a third, against the advice of his own BIA. As of 2000, this has cost the Nation over $600 million. 2. Every year, the federal government budgets nearly a billion dollars for Indian Affairs. They then mandate what it must be spent on. Over 90% of the budget is spent on travel, training, salaries, benefits for nearly 10,000 federal (white) employees. What little that makes it to the Indian people is earmarked for ineffective wasteful programs such as the "Make Indian Education Safe". A stupid program that mandates that teachers get security training. 3. For nearly 15 years, the NAPI was run by Red Ball Management, a non-Navajo mgmt company. RBM was approved by a federal bureaucrat and the Navajo Nations compliants about it were ignored. Today, the mgmt is all Navajo and according to objective sources, is actually seeing vast improvements. 4. NAPI is twentieth on the list of US farms subsidies. Over a 14 yr period, NAPI has received $17M while the top receipant was Rice farms at $554M. 5. It is in the best interest of the federal government to keep the navajo nation completely dependent on itself. It cannot become soveriegn as long as the federal government imposes it rules, laws, regulations on the Navajo from cradle to grave. It just cannot. |
