Study raises questions on cholesterol drug, makers

Zetia works by preventing intestinal absorption of cholesterol from dietary sources. The first time I heard this I thought it had to be a joke. Why not just cut out egg yolks from your diet instead of paying for an expensive medication that, not surprisingly, doesn't work? Stick with statins for people who are at an increased risk for coronary problems or for people who have already had a heart attack.

Ouch.

Lets face facts the FDA has little know statistical talant to understand the facts presented to them by drug companies nor device manufacturers. So over the last few years the FDA accepts many new drugs with out many facts of a study being understood or what questionable statisical assuumpions the compaies statisticans have used to show an unbiased conclusion. Also the FDA has had a very bad relationship with companies in the past due in part to its relationship to the power brokers in the us being Presidents,senators,congressma n, state law makers ETC. The FDA is not going to ever be a good detreminator of drugs or devices until they can hire a staff ( a very Large one) to oversee each and every factit od the industries claims. Will this add years to new drugs coming to market most likely it will, but do the people wish good science with unbiased data, or just to take a drug that a company claims to the FDA is Good for the problems that ail you.

It also should be added that FDA approval is not able to be used as a defence in a law suit agaisnt a company. So lets cut the BS and make any FDA approval grounds for suing the companies and also for suing the Governmant (FDA) whch is like suing yourself as we currently pay for the FDA to protect us but do not get much protection for the money. So use some money from Presidents Bush's war and help the peolpe he is uphelp to defend that pay his salary. The people of the US expect that we need to defend ourselves from attacks by forien natios, but its also as important or more important for the Governmant to make sure all its citizens get good defence from drug companies, have insurance that affordable to all, safe infa-structure, good schools and good jobs payed for by companies that move jobs from the US soil.

I think a good president can not be republican if that means making the rich richer and the not rich poorer. Maybe we need a Democrat's belief in the Presidents office and a honest one. The same old Washington ways do not work any more, the US needs new blood in the Whitehouse.
