Sell the theatre to the highest bidder and get out of the movie business.
The city and its leadership is too screwed up to be able to run this enterprise profitably. They should pocket any money recouped and try to save the jobs of the employees that they are going to "pink slip" this fiscal year.
We need priorities set and a solid, forward thinking set of leaders to guide us in the right direction.
Retire Morris, Shorett, Brinker, Van Johnson, Marquez and Kelly and Vote "NO" on Measure C

While I fully understand and appreciate Mr. Marzullo's statement, bigger is not necessarily better. The theatres need an exhibitor, like Arclight, which has an attention to detail and which can target the sophisticated and urbane movie-goer that San Bernardino ultimately wants to attract to a place that will eventually achieve parity with Los Angeles and San Diego.
Regal Entertainment Group operates cinemas under three brands: Regal; United Artists; and, Edwards. So, the challenge will be to create a uniquely San Bernardinian movie-going experience that can serve as a flagship among all the company's venues. To that end, the interior design of Dorothy Draper at the Arrowhead Springs Hotel, Spa, and Bungalows, as well as the stylistic cues provided by the California Theatre next door, should inform this effort.
The exclusive rights to the IMAX format that the E.D.A. has acquired will certainly help, but exceptional design, special-interest programming, and further development of Theatre Square will do the most for creating that first major project that sets the standard for all future development in the City of San Bernardino.

That big cinder-block monstrosity is not going to be in the same league as the California Theater or the Arrowhead Springs Hotel. It is an eyesore that is made more visible by the tacky light show. If this city wants a decent town center they should tear it down and start over.
