First Redlands now Ontario. Where is San Bernardino's slice of the pie? NUMEROUS very large, NEW, and EMPTY warehouses are just sitting in SB's North end of town on Hallmark Parkway / Industrial Parkway and Cajon Blvd (all the way to Devore). All are close to valuable rail and highway access. Just who's job is it to seek out these companies (like Home Depot) and "sell" them on SB and the facilities that are now available in SB? Are they asleep at the wheel or do they even exist? This is yet ANOTHER missed opportunity for SB as we sit idly by and watch our neighboring cities grow and expand with dynamic planning and foresight. What “lure” do these other cities have that SB does not? Does this selling belong to the Chamber of Commerce? One has to ask why is SB missing these opportunities time and again?
The frequency of these missed opportunities must now be questioned as to why. Are the demands the City places on new business driving them away? Is SB even being considered by companies like Home Depot? There has to be a reason and I feel it is only fair to now ask why? Think of the economic shot in the arm it would be if ALL the new and empty warehouses located in the north end could be occupied by major firms. Is the Councilman for the 6th Ward aware of the goldmine that is just sitting in his Ward and going to waste? What is he doing to entice corporations to even consider these facilities, much less move into them? Is he and the Mayor working with anyone on this issue?
I and many other citizens/voters look forward to an informed explanation that includes why and what if any corrective actions are being taken to capitalize the selling of San Bernardino. There is so much to offer in SB but is it being advertised?

The economy will bounce back. Government spending created many jobs in the Great Depression, Hoover Dam for example. Some paint that as socialism, others as a wise public investment -- saw a cool site; Balkingpoints ; incredible satellite view of earth

This sounds good, but if it is on 4th street, or one of the freeway access points will be 4th street, I hope they pay for a redesign of at least the eastbound 10, to northbound 15 freeway. at time this is a terrible place to be, as cars and trucks cming from south of the 10, try to merge over to fourth, and cars and truck coming off the 10 try to merge onto the 15. it does not help that two northbound lanes end just north of the 4th.

DING DING DING!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a WINNER!

SB City has one of the highest Utility taxes on electricity (something that it neither produces, distributes or maintains).

The City also has a list of successful projects, such as Seccombe Park, The Downtown Theaters, Carousel Mall, Operation Phoenix.... of wait, no. All of those FAILED.

The growing malaise in the city, and their history of throwing money on RIDICULOUS PROJECTS (the latest one is the old-Asbestos ridden Arrowhead Springs Hotel at the bottom of the 18 that even the San Manual Indians were smart enough to walk away from) rather than just buying up blocks of blighted buildings downtown and creating a redevelopment area.

The "voters" - if you can call them that, since they rarely turn out - keep voting in the same-old "touchy-feelie" cronies that have not taken a hard line against crime and managing the city as they should.

So, large corporations, that wish to hire QUALIFIED PEOPLE, will NOT relocate to SB City, because, well, would you rather work in Ontario that has routine gang sweeps, an effective police department, or in SB City, where you can't shop in 2/3rds of the city, and you have to put a "club" on your steering wheel to your ride doesn't get "jacked" while you are at work?

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Scorpio

Don't believe everything you see today and your memory could be playing tricks on you, too. You might remember things in a distorted or false way, through no fault of your own. You may also be reading too much into the situations that are going on around you, making it hard for you to know what's really happening. Try not to make any big decisions today because you simply aren't thinking straight.
