I hope this wasn't the only topic of conversation at the conference. Although, the vessel by which they wet their whislte is a priority subject. sheesh!

I vote for bottled beer at all mayoral meetings. Maybe they'll accomplish something.

A Brita filter is a miracle of science. It makes my heavily chlorinated tap water taste better than bottled, since it doesn't have that plastic taste.

If I were Coke or Pepsi, the next time a city came to me and asked for a sponsorship of some event I would tell them to go jump in a lake. This is absolute BS. Bring on the bottled water!!!!

If you think so...good for you. Brit is nice - but would you pour water from a river into it - or from a reservoir and then drink it?

Would be better to ban soda in plastic bottles. Wastes energy and makes people fat and unhealthy. Bottled water is at least a healthy choice.

Might be "sound bite environmentalism," but at least it's environmentalism. What have you done lately, Vinnie Boombatz, to make this a better planet?

Let them bring their own bottled water. I do. Why should we pay for that when pitcher's of water is just as good? Good financial move.

It did make me wonder how they could tell us how wonderful our water is and then drink out of a plastic bottle. And then I put two and two together and came up with their answer"b u l l s h i p"

1. No trucks to transport heavy water

2. No bottles to dispose of

3. no bottles to be purchased from the petro-chemical companies (less demand for petro...leum)

Yeah...Sounds like "sound-bite environmentalism" to me?!?!

Knowing how the wheels of government turn, someone will decide that they can't sanitize the pitchers and glasses, and thus they'll throw them out after each meeting. Or in the case of Allentown, they'll need to build a $250,000 dishwasher to handle it.

The mayors are setting a good example. Bottled water and cell phones have become fashion statements. Like cigarettes, the statement they make is dumb.

No, you need to use potable water. In other words, water from the tap that may not taste good but is perfectly safe to drink.

Brita and other household filters don't purify water.
