Why dont people ever read the fine print? Do you ever read the back of your receipts? It is there for a reason. I hate hearing, "Nobody told me!" when, by law, its all in the fine print. I figure you probably had a similar issue with your rebate, if you make copies of everything, like it states, the would HAVE to honor the rebate. I would never let them keep my $300 if i followed all the terms.I got burned for a 300.00 rebate on a computer, The manager said if that is what customer service said " then why are we having this conversation?"
They were completely wrong. Never got my rebate.
Lately my wife bought me a calculator, I didn't like it so she put it in the car to take it back, a couple of weeks later when she returned it they said electronics have a 10 day limit for return! never opened.

I went to two Office Depots today, only because they are both close to my home. Not only did any of the staff have no clue to what kind of simple cable i needed, they were rude and said they would be back; which never happened. I left with a few harsh words and went to circuit city and immediatly got good service and they knew the exact cable I needed within two minutes. Office Depot Sucks!!!

Here's the facts. We submitted the paperwork to OD but forgot to send the bar code with it. no return notification, two weeks later we call they said "OH YEA! send the bar code in" and that we did the next day. Two weeks later no reply. After contacting them again they said the offer expired a week prior to our last attempt to collect, question how about the week prior? or the two weeks prior to that? Deception at it's best. By the way I just spent 300.00 at Staples yesterday. |
If you're talking about Motorola, that's old news. Lost the pager division in Boynton years ago, now cutting back huge at the radio division in Plantation. Writing on the wall is Plantation will be closed soon, and jobs will be moved to IL. |

2nd most common excuse,"I forgot." Attention to detail. |

I was with office depot (in corporate HQ) for close to 9 years. The first 5 years were good. Wonderful company to work for. Great people and as far as I knew, ethical and honest. I left about a year ago due to my growing concern of mismanagment from the top and unethical practices that I witnessed first hand. Let's say I saw the "handwriting on the wall" and made the decision to leave. I was right. The SEC investigations started right after and it has gone further downhill since. It is a tragedy what has happened to this once admired company. It all stems from Odland's regime and we were warned by those at Auto Zone his M.O. He should be in jail for his actions. It is a mystery as to why the board keeps him on. Does he have pictures of someone???

OD's stock was $30 a year ago,$14-15 a month ago - pushing $6.50 today with downward pressure.
Ouch! |
|
|
No more OD for my company, granted we only spent 1-2k a month, so what do they care.....maybe some more companies and individuals will do the same though - and that would make an impact.
Stealing from School Kids - scumbags. |

I too am an ex employee of OD, I was with them for almost 15 years. The first 10 were good, but then too many changes in senior management and strategy started happening, and after that, numerous problems with ethics, illegal financial dealings, human resource abuse and lack of control and the way they treated us became more than I could stand at my level, and I had to leave. I have since moved onto a much better situation, but feel for what used to be a great company. Odland and Rubin should be jailed for their conduct, without a doubt. It's disgraceful what the board is allowing them go get away with, while peoples livelihoods lie in the balance. OD Board - be ashamed.

$6.31 - lost another 7.75% of market cap.
Well...congrats on the new corporate headquarters anyways. Still gonna be able to afford to move all that way? |

Now who's fault is it that your district has no money and you are paying for it? Blame the government when they go on an illegal war, allow contractors to get contracts without bidding and steal billions of dollars that go to the very thing you are b*t*hing about. I guess you voted for Bush the last 2 elections.

Well, if you are wondering where to invest your money......read the commments here. ODP is worthless and a waste of time. I wouldn't buy even at 6.50 a share. The mighty OD has been destroyed from within. Nice job Odland !! You took a customer-friendly company and put it in the toilet while killing the core of the company (the employees). How does this guy still have a job????? He blames the economy for all the problems.......sorry Steve-O it aint the economy...its YOU !!!!!!!!!

Years ago, Staples tried buying OD but the offer was nixed by the gov't because they condsidered it a monopoly. Maybe at this point, the OD clan doesn't care if the company goes in the tank and they lose their foothold in the market so they can cash out and sell the company with a smaller share of the market. I left just over 2 years ago (right after Odland's package to leave was offered to employees the first time, though I didn't take it) and the stock price hit $40. It's fallen awfully fast since then for a company that was only concerned with wall street status.

Dropped under 5.75 already today. These guys are not coming back - look for a Euro buyout.
Odland killed it. Bye Bye OD. |
|
The actions of the federal govt do not affect the performance and resulting overcharges of a company.Too often the person in the state/local govt office has to check invoicing without understanding the details to look for abuse (like what OD is accused of doing). They are often spread thin and this is what OD is hoping for. That is why the state auditors look at the situation. Your response shows a narrow, one track mind. |

Working for Office Depot is probably the closest thing to experiencing Hell on Earth!
The worst year of my life was working for those arrogant, greedy, bastards! |

I am hoping to jump ship, but I am stuck in the horrible Florida job market, which holds me hostage at OD. As the clouds of doom continue to gather around OD, I can only hope to get out before the whole ship goes down. The shredders at corporate are working overtime, there is a sense of impending doom, and the finger pointing on who is responible for the investigations has really begun to pick up steam. Does anyone out there have a job for a nice honest girl in the office products industry? Someone throw me a life perserver, I want to get out now before it is too late! HELP!

Yeah, there's a gun pointed at your head forcing you to stay at a company you don't want to stay at.
