Every grunt thinks managers don't do anything. If you think managers are overpaid why don't you become one? My guess is you don't have what it takes and probably never will. Grow up, quit whining, do your job better than anyone else and maybe someday you'll be "overpaid".

Rushing out in the middle of the night when the alarm goes off and police call you... Constantly being held accountable for EVERYTHING and putting out ALL fires - sometimes REAL ONES! And it goes on and on. And the disrespect that comes from employees like you.... you would last ONE DAY with me and I would be taking you for the "WALK OF SHAME" right out the front door! Rushing out in the middle of the night when the alarm goes off and police call you... Constantly being held accountable for EVERYTHING and putting out ALL fires - sometimes REAL ONES! I'm a Department Manager at OD. I make $12.75 an hour, and I work my ass off. Stop paying managers so much? Are you kidding? All we are is glorified team leaders, except for the Store Manager. They make big bucks and bonuses.

Well at my store the managers just sit in the office most of the time, talking to each other about their husbands and boyfriends, eat bagels and drink coffee. Then they get over the radio and yell at us that we aren't doing our jobs and are too slow at our jobs. IMO those people are overpaid and should be replaced. Office Depot has very little accountability when it comes to making sure that managers are doing their jobs.

It goes beyond that too. Some of our managers will just leave the store when they feel like it. The store manager left for over an hour one day and didn't even announce that she was leaving! Some of my co-workers told me that one of the department managers left the store for almost two hours this past Monday on the clock. The store manager let two of the managers take their vacation at the same time not that long ago. It's crazy. I haven't worked for OD for long but if this is how it is for managers it seems pretty sweet to me.
