Every grunt thinks managers don't do anything. If you think managers are overpaid why don't you become one? My guess is you don't have what it takes and probably never will. Grow up, quit whining, do your job better than anyone else and maybe someday you'll be "overpaid".

If you are a teenager and need a job OD is the place for you...but if are looking to make money OD is not the place for you.. Trust me i work there right now bc OD is like my back up job for everything bc i showed OD i can do everything for them and i know everything OD Offers and i know how to do my job.. But the only way you can make money in OD is to be a manager why i say bc I work at the one in Indiana and from what i hear we are the lowest paid compared to other stores around....$7.25 that's sad to say bc of how much you have to learn and know is not worth $7.25hr $9.00hr would be a hell of a lot better. stop payin your managers so damn much bc they half the time don't do shit. A manager should really only be getting paid somewhere around 12hr and top out at 16hr nothing more..Hell i do more than the managers and the store manager combine. So if you want to know the inside of the OD you can just ask me.
OMG! Obviously you've never been a Manager! You are responsible for OSHA Compliance, Loss Prevention, Sales Metrics, Customer Service Metrics, Budgets, Merchandising and Inventory! Rushing out in the middle of the night when the alarm goes off and police call you... Constantly being held accountable for EVERYTHING and putting out ALL fires - sometimes REAL ONES! And it goes on and on. And the disrespect that comes from employees like you.... you would last ONE DAY with me and I would be taking you for the "WALK OF SHAME" right out the front door! Gee - I bet you're unemployed right now >:(

I'm a Department Manager at OD. I make $12.75 an hour, and I work my ass off. Stop paying managers so much? Are you kidding? All we are is glorified team leaders, except for the Store Manager. They make big bucks and bonuses.

Well at my store the managers just sit in the office most of the time, talking to each other about their husbands and boyfriends, eat bagels and drink coffee. Then they get over the radio and yell at us that we aren't doing our jobs and are too slow at our jobs. IMO those people are overpaid and should be replaced. Office Depot has very little accountability when it comes to making sure that managers are doing their jobs.

It goes beyond that too. Some of our managers will just leave the store when they feel like it. The store manager left for over an hour one day and didn't even announce that she was leaving! Some of my co-workers told me that one of the department managers left the store for almost two hours this past Monday on the clock. The store manager let two of the managers take their vacation at the same time not that long ago. It's crazy. I haven't worked for OD for long but if this is how it is for managers it seems pretty sweet to me.

OD Not So Much, do you still have to deal with the bs service crap? I knew from the onset that ISCE would be a disaster-and it was. Were you encouraged to look the other way when shoplifting occured. Our store managers were told NOT to call the police! It was open season in my old store!!
