1 http://tinyurl.com/3dz5mo 20 Sep 2007 Dubai has taken new steps toward becoming a true global financial powerhouse, buying 20% stakes in the Nasdaq and London Stock Exchange as higher oil has given the Gulf state even more money to invest. But why are exchanges so attractive to Middle East investors? Investors in Dubai, Qatar and Abu Dhabi have over $1.5 trillion to invest, and they are phenomenally ambitious. Jeff Macke thinks a good way to “trade Dubai” is to get ahead of “trophy assets” like Tiffany’s (TIF), which is the type of company these investors might become interested in aside from their obvious attention to the exchanges. http://www.cnbc.com/id/20894037... |blog| ---------- Bill Clinton Was President In 1997 and gave the green light. Email spam and Windows Messenger spam are a big help to that but it isn't blocked. Since I changed ISP's my home computer has been under almost constant attack with several pharmaceutical related spammers using Windows Messenger pop up function. I don't see these ads but the packet traffic is a big pain on my internet connection and strangely enough my ISP does not care. One of the IP addresses the spammer is using is fake, cannot be resolved or answered and that will bog down your CPU trying to do a DNS resolution or attempt to answer a fake IP address every time a packet arrives. I managed to block these from reaching my TCP/IP stack (drop them on arrival) and I took the time to trace them backwards (if you are patient that works on a fake IP address too because it isn't the address per say in question but the physical location of the spammers computer) and one of them is connected to a well known global pharmaceutical company and the other is a small store brick and mortar pharmaceutical chain (they have a legal website so it's they are being hijacked/spoofed or whoever they hired to do their advertising is putting a very bad light on their business) in my own state. The big one is coming from Europe and the small one is being sent out onto the web less than a mile from my current location. Now whether or not these two places of business are doing this themselves or are paying a spammer to do it for them or their business interests are being hijacked and spoofed by criminal interests, I do not know nor would I attempt to address such. I do know that no one cares though. I just know it is a huge industry and if I, without any IT diploma and billions backing me up can use legal public information from legal public sources can spend 2 hours to trace this crap to what appears to be a legal IP address in Europe and a fake IP address being employed less than a mile from my current location why can't those who are supposed to be about the business of busting such supposedly clandestine pharmaceutical interests do the same thing? |

#1 "...cannot be resolved or answered and that will bog down your CPU trying to do a DNS resolution or attempt to answer a fake IP address every time a packet arrives"
#2 "...less than a mile from my current location." Explanation: This relates to me that they are rookies because: #1 They are using packets for their spam that contain a response request. #2 They are using a fake IP address but NOT using a proxy. |

1 The Taliban opposed poppy farming, but given the cash potential for 'protection' and cash for weapons they've relaxed that rigid rule. Regardless, Afghanistan has been for centuries a loose-knit country ruled by regional warlords, who guard their fiefdoms with weapons and maintain that control via the opium trade. Translation? Nothing is going to happen. |

What sand lot? You do realize that the article refers to Hamid Karzai, the current President of Afghanistan? Now, according to you ... Afghanistan is also a waste? |

Since the downfall of the Taliban, the poppy cultivation industry has seen several bumper crops. This is all to the chagrin of NATO forces, and America in particular. They treat the poppy industry exactly as they treat the coco industry in South America, labelling it as illegal and attempting to destroy it. This in turn creates a large problem, in that a large number of Afghan jobs are considered criminal. Great amounts of Afghanistan’s GDP can be attributed to this illicit industry, and great amounts of these illicit funds end up in the hands of Coalition enemies. What can be done when one of a country’s highest grossing industries is illegal, posing a direct threat to security forces, and creating a steep social cost to most other states? What should be done? This paper will explore various proposals on how to deal with these two seemingly distant, yet, in truth, intertwined problems – the reconstruction of a war-torn Afghanistan, and the world heroin trade. It will be argued that a legal, licensed poppy industry, improved agricultural and commercial infrastructure, enhanced alternative crop programs, a rebuilt legal system, increased security, and decreased corruption are the best strategies to combat these problems. http://batcave911.blogspot.com/ |

1 Not for naught! Remember how much confidence people had in their government, and how much safer they felt, when the US govt could point at someone and say 'They did it. Let's get 'em!' a mere, awe inspiring eleven DAYS after the twin towers fell... 11 days and they knew Afghanistan did it, that’s some pretty speedy investigation (please ignore the fact none of the attackers were Afghans or had any link to the Taliban. Just ignore that and feel reassured). The US govt would gleefully spend billions to give their own people the idea the US govt is in control if it was necessary – especially when it isn't in control. And even more billions to show the rest of the world that no one better touch the US coz it can still single-handedly smash the sh1t out of anyone who looks at it sideways!(or, at the least, a poverty stricken nation embargoed by the world for over a decade that shows no credible evidence of any serious weapons systems). It’s just that, unfortunately, in focussing on the need to show people how tough they were, the US govt did rather forget the realities of what happens when you invade a country, let alone two. Compounded by stupidly destroying all systems of order and most of the vital infrastructure for running a society. Compounded further by the fact that one of those places is a place that held off the combined might of the USSR and Northern Alliance for 15 years. And while, true, that was almost entirely to US funding and arms back then, they still have all those weapons and new creditors can be located pretty easily when drug lords are so conveniently located all around you. Scary huh? To realise the direct flow of events. To know the Taliban would have been destroyed by the USSR if the US hadn’t funded and armed them so well. Which means no Taliban controlled Afghanistan from 96. Which means no Bin Laden in Afghanistan from 98-2001. Which MIGHT mean all sorts of things for 3,000 particular people in 2001 and would DEFINITELY mean we wouldn’t have soldiers in Afghanistan trying to do the exact same job the Soviets tried but failed because someone kept funding that terrorist group and failing for exactly the same reason... You sure couldn’t say it’s the fault of the US government for funding and arming the Taliban 20years ago. But you sure can say that, like arming and funding Saddam to invade Iran and kill half a million people, giving guns and money to fundamentalist, terrorist murderers in the hope they will drain a competitor is a pretty stupid idea that will one day bite you in the ass. |
