I think it's a sign of good luck and good things to come that Murph is starting on St. Patty's Day....go Murph!

Out of curiousity, who left the Channel 4 sports team?
Murphy should make a worthy addition.

I had to laugh at the fact that the Buffalo News website officially reported this before the WIVB website did.

I think it is a great addition to the news 4 team he is a great sports guy in general

Why did Dennis Williams get shoved out the door and why would John Murphy get this job over and above Paul Peck and Robin Adams who have been around Channel 4 for some time. Seems kind of fishy.

He was a great sports director and always enjoyed listening to his sports reporting.

Don't know, don't care. I stopped watching WIVB when he named O.J. the athlete of the millenium or whatever it was. It will be good to watch it again!

are you kidding me? you honestly think paul peck and robin adams are sports director material? yeah, that'd be the day. nothing against them, but when you are a sports director, you've either got it or you don't. unfortunately, they don't - not many people do.

williams did not decide to leave and then adams and peck were overlooked when murphy was hired. the reason williams was released was because the plan all along was to hire murphy as the new sports director.

I'm vividly reminded of Don Pauls contract dispute with Ch4 and his temporary move over to Ch.2 which pushed Barry Lillis out.
Paul stayed all of what? 2 months.
I hope Ch.4 is ready to deal with Johns temperment.
I wish Dennis Williams and his family all the best. He's a class act.
