Oil chiefs say high prices not our fault

Don't blame us, oil industry chiefs told a skeptical Congress. Top executives of the country's five biggest oil companies said Tuesday they know record fuel prices are hurting people, but they argued it's not their fault and their huge profits are in line with other industries.

Interesting bed partners, big oil companies, environmental lefties, global warming and scientists who believe oil came from fossils and plants.

Yet 70 to 80% of the US population want something done to lower gas prices. Yet nothing ever happens. Instead we keep sending billions of dollars a day overseas to countries who hat us.

A grass roots movement is needed to alleviate this problem. LET'S ROLL

Who got a 400 million dollar bonus when he retired? When he worked i think he made about 5 million a year. I do believe that is part of the fuel cost problem. There are alot people working for these oil companies that are getting paid way to much for thier so called work. Who should get a 400 million dollar bonus? NOBODY SHOULD GET ONE!!!

Nationalize the oil companies and hang these profiters from oil rigs and leave their carcasses to rot! Chavez in Venzuela has it right. We are already paying excessively for oil so we just may as well own the means of production and refinement. A little communism never hurt anyone at least anymore then capitalism.

We buy communist garbage from China at Wal Mart. the conservatives preach the gospel free market society, capitalism etc. buying cheap oil from Hugo shouldn't be a problem. I'd bet plenty of OPEC companies in bed with terrorist oraganizations. Why does our best friend Mexico sell their oil to China? Why is our oil in Iraq being sold to China on the Black Market?
It's time for waterboarding for polticians for the truth and some CEO's should be next!

Lies and dollers go hand in hand why do we trust congress and the oil guys decide on the prices. They do not have to worry if the limo has fuel. They dont have to go to work for $8.50 an hr spending $3.40 a gal or more I mean come on why the hell would ny one in D.C. give a damn about the common man.

Actually it is more then some the American consumers fault. If you don't pay their price they can't sell it. China would not have the money to buy it if the American consumer had not given them the money in the first place. The whole thing really is the fault of the short sightedness of the American consumer.

10-20 years ago buying the cheap China import is what has given China the money to buy the oil now. So now the American consumer will pay for the savings they got when they bought cheap Chinese products.

The dollar deals at wal-mart are coming back to bite in more ways then a loss of jobs.

Mean while Iraqis would riot en-mass if they had to pay more then 10 cent a gallon for gas so Uncle Sam pays the oil companies $2 for every gallon of gas that Iraqis buy for 10 cents.

Gas Prices In Iraq: 5 Cents A Gallon
London (WJZ/AP) ― Motorists struggling with high gas prices in the United States and Europe may be surprised to learn that consumers
in Iraq pay as little as 5 cents a gallon, according to the International Monetary Fund's first assessment of the Iraqi economy in 25 years.

Thanks to generous government subsidies on petroleum products -- which the IMF criticized as a threat to the country's fragile economy -- Iraq has some of the cheapest gas in the world.

By contrast, Americans pay about $2.55 a gallon and Britons pay $6.24.

Iraqis also pay much less for a gallon of regular gasoline than in nearby countries such as Iran (38 cents), Jordan ($1.89) and Syria ($1.74).

Even the many Iraqis who pay higher, black-market prices at the pump often make money by smuggling gasoline into neighboring countries such as Turkey, according to the International Monetary Fund's 62-page report released Monday.

Do you realize that "the Governement" makes more in tax revinue on oil than the Oil companies make? You bet a national ownership concept would be better! NOT!

OK, let's look at this:

1.) Massive regulation
2.) Can't drill in Anwar....15 billion+ barrels of oil there
3.) Can't drill off shore. unlimited supplies there
4.) Can't harvest clean coal. We have a lifetime of that
5.) Can't build nuclear power plants....France has virtually no oil imports and use nuclear power exclusively.
6.) and so on.

Massive regulations, enviromentalist whacko's, liberal taxation and more.

Instead we harvest corn for fuel....driving up food prices and hurting the hard working person even more.

1 wind power windmill produces the equivalent of 4 barrels of oil.

Why Exxon won't produce more oil.

"The energy giant is being managed to achieve an acceptable investment return for shareholders, not for the benefit of consumers. Less supply of crude oil means higher prices -- and record profits."
