Another ridiculous reaction to a lack of professionalism. Let's make another law. I mean it seems we already have a law that prohibits any elected official from using their brains - whenever someone screws up their first reaction is to make a law.
Next thing coming - " Your papers please? They are not in order. Come with us".

Are the senators getting all the facts or are they jumping to do something for the sake of doing something???

The pilots lost their jobs! If that isn't strong enough what the heck is a law going to do?

Considering the brilliant minds we have in congress, I'm surprised they haven't banned all computers from the cockpits.

Responsible pilots will pay attention when they're in the cockpit. Clearly these pilots were irresponsible. No law is going to protect passengers from irresponsible pilots.

Our representatives should be spending their time on more important issues like the economy and health care rather than passing laws that are basically worthless.

I see the lawmakers are having a slow period right now..I guess there isn't enough issues to deal with that are important so they put this in the forefront..Sad!

I don't understand why they don't just require the laptops to be "connected" to the cockpit and have any necessary communications override all other applications on them. That way the laptops are useless until the alert/warning is acknowledged.

This is who we elected? We as a society are going right down the toilet bowl. We have to create a law to protect people from themselves.

Just put cameras in cockpits like in MTC buses. It would be safer for all flyers and competent pilots would not mind a bit. No laptops or cell phones or immediate termination and the problem is solved.

Why do we need a law for this. This is some publicity grabbing politician using an isolated incident to force more government control. Each airline can develop its own policies regarding these matters. Does this guy even have any idea what pilots do or don't do once a plane is at crusing altitude? What a joke. He thinks companies can't manage themselves so the government needs to. I don't care is a pilot is on his laptop as long as he can still do his job. Most likely those two guys were sleeping and not on their laptops.

Lets ban them in cars too. Along with cells, and CD players and radios. Crazy to let people play with a toy while driving a 5000 pound car 60 mph just feet away from other drivers.

I still say they were drunk and the truth is being covered up here. Nearly all americans drive drunk and you tell me they don't fly drunk? No way.

Ok, it's against regulations for pilots to use personal laptops while in flight...yet they did it. If a reg. is out there that says no laptops in the cockpit---what makes anyone think they'll follow that one either?

These fools in Washington are nothing but news hounds that will say and do anything to get publicity. We don't need another law - how stupid can they be?
