Newmont faulted in Midas death: Supervisors aware of poor ground conditions at mine

i was on mine rescue at that time, and i was on that(body) recovery. when i found out what had happened, i immediately knew what had happened. over the period of 8 years and an abundance of employee drug use , lack of job quality, and supervisorory indifferince, what could have been a very outstanding mine lost its luster because of some very bad decisions made by managemement that cost the life of a man.

I know the surveying and control issues at the mine, and with poor data and a lack of in-line accounatablity come problems. Not only the where, but the way things are done. Knowledge of the big picture was not present, and communication to the crews was bad. Too many cheap solutions and a lack of commitment to the greater good.
Was bound to happen from what I saw.

anyone heard anything (facts) on layoffs for drillers with Layne Christensen in Nevada?
