the economy is so bad that workers must pitch in and help the company by taking sub-standard contracts. lower health care benefits. loose language that protect jobs. but, the company is closing a plant and has just appointed a new position of CFO of community development and land management group. must be those checks and balances. check to see who is disposable so they can create a buddy position. pretty soon this top heavy company is going to capsize.

Hey a new other President position created. pres of personal & beauty care division. how many buddies do these people have. Or is it some type of protection to keep them from being voted out. stock holders had better get a grip on this company and ask some real questions the next earnings call. like how many more jobs will be disposed of in order to pay a new cfo pres exec whatever. if the company is struggeling in this un-friendly environment how can they justify the amount of pay that these new people will be pulling down. looks bad. MWV is suppose to be up on the list of being environmentaly conscious but you get an FFFFFFFF for being concerned for humanity. hope you choke on your eggnog this christmas. who will they let go next. shame on you for putting 120 people out of a job for some new titles.

Well now we know what could be next. Reducing 15% of the MeadWestvaco workforce. Who is going to do the work of those positions when 2000 people are gone? If the past proves to be correct, the company will expect already overloaded people to step up and do the jobs of those eliminated employees. Sure, employees should be thankful to have a job at all, but at what expense? Health? Family? How many of the top level (Presidents, Vice-Presidents, and Directors) will be let go? How many layers of management do we really need? How many did we need in the past? Before the consolidation to corporate, we didn't have that many layers and we were world class. Stockholders - start asking the tough questions and expect good answers!

Funny, ya don't see any of the salary guys laughing now. they all have solom faces. company cuts equals salary positions because they are not hiding behind the cursed union. sure they can cut hourly employees back to 40 hours a week but they will still be getting the 40. sorry to see this company going the way they are alot of good people are going to get hurt along with their families i am deeply sorry for that. I am however greatful that the ones and they know who they are, that were the loudest most obnoxious while negotiations were taking place. If only one or two of them get theirs ill be happy with the knowledge that what goes around does come around.

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Libra

Happy New Year, Libra!. How's that poor old body feeling this morning?! If you're having a gathering, include casual acquaintances or newcomers as if they were one of the family. You're a real social animal and you know how to put people at their ease. This is a wonderful talent: not only do you have a network of friends and social contacts, as well as business ones, but you have the ability to bring others together. Perhaps you should start a dating agency this year!
