Giving the Aracoma mine an award for safety makes about as much sense as giving an appointment as head of the Mine Safety and Health Administration to the safety officer at the Wilberg mine who was on duty during the explosion that killed 27 miners.
Oh, wait. Chao did that, too.

The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration believes Massey Energy has fixed problems at a West Virginia coal mine where two men died in a 2006 fire.
