Colorado Chick wrote: <quoted text> Yes, they will, but when the parent continually eats the fast food grub herself and gives it to her child, ya think she will take the blame for endangering her child's health by a doctor? It's a vicious cycle, fast food is convenient, health problems arise from consumption, doctor visits until gets cleared up with healthy diets......but unless you are an adult, you could go that route. As a child, you basically have to rely on the parent's decisions for your well-being. Ya think the govt will intervene for the good of the child? Maybe if that child is on govt assistance programs. You are right, it is impossible to over estimate the parents role in childhood obesity. First of all, children naturally look towards their parents to figure out the proper way to act. That's why parents that cuss around their kids have children that cuss too. You are always setting an example for your children, good or bad....Secondly, up until the child is old enough to drive, they are almost completely dependent on the parents for food. So if all the parents have around the house is junk food, thats what the kid has to eat. I am responsible for what my daughter eats, as a parent I buy the food and prepare it for her. I pack her lunch for school, make her breakfast and dinner. Because of the example my wife and I have set, the CHO considers healthy food to be normal table fare. To my daughter, raspberries are candy.

Sugar coated cereal by the boxes, cases of pop and bakery items. To this day, our kids eat salads, freshly prepared foods and enjoy fruit as their dessert also. Guess we raised out kids right on!Summertime peach halves placed in freezer are an awesome treat. Enjoy!

No you may not use that kind of language. No you may not dress like Britney Spears....Too many parents abandon their parental responsibilities. Then they wonder why they've raised a lunatic.
