Haha, you definitely CANNOT have any visible tattoos. The uniform is long pants and a tshirt. Any tattoos that are visible outside of that uniform are not acceptable so you wouldn't be hired.

The uniform fluctuates from restaurant to restaurant, too; at my old store, people could wear a long-sleeved shirt under their uniform tee, or a long-sleeved uniform shirt. So, it depends highly on individual policy.

Where I live in Texas, uniforms for McDonald's vary even across the individual restaurants in the city. We moved to black tees with grey striping, for example, while others use blue denim shirts, and still others have a red tee.

And yet, McDonald's values each team member's individual talents and diversity. It would seem to me that such a forward-thinking organization would look past a mere inking of the skin, and see the value of the man for who and what he is. And, at my old store, we often did. The swing manager who consistently ran the best times during lunch-rush and received lots of good feedback from the customers had a visible tattoo on her neck. You seem rather...intolerant for a McDonald's manager. Your store must be a dreadful place to work...in which case, you will likely call me out with good examples of your store and tell me not to leap to conclusions. I invite you to do the same, and represent the brand you work for with more tact and diplomacy. You're making McDonald's look bad.

wow...unknown27 surely in dealing with such a diverse range of people you would learn to be more tolerant of others. How is it that you know the regulations at every mcdonalds across the country? At our store employees are allowed to wear sleeves. Not to mention we have employees who have visible tattoos including managers.

The U.S. only has one standard uniform that all stores should be using. If they're not, that means some stores are using old uniforms and haven't switched yet.

We have standard, well known appearance policies and this disgusting filth doesn't fit in with those policies. I would not hire you, and definitely not put you into any sort of leadership role. It is your slack store that makes McDonld's look bad, not my commitment to professional looking employees.

With us being an international company we need to represent the same image across the world. No, employees are not allowed to have visible tattoos.

If they're not, that means some stores are using old uniforms and haven't switched yet. You are wrong. The order forms we used at the store I worked until December of '09 had dozens of different uniforms to pick from. The US does not have one standard uniform. Until about May of '09, all the McDonald's in my city had one blue denim shirt they used, emblazoned with the city's logo on the chest. In May, it was decided that different stores could buy different uniforms if they so desired, as long as they were all approved by the owner/operator who franchises most of the stores in the city. Might I see a link that details McDonald's one single uniform that, apparently ,an ENTIRE CITY'S WORTH OF RESTAURANTS missed the memo on?

(well, you DID ask...)

You are not, nor will you ever, be qualified to determine who is "filth" or not. Such vehemence is unprofessional of one who manages at a McDonald's,as well. And, thankfully, whom you choose to hire or not is of no consequence to me. I merely assert that you are making McDonald's managers look very unprofessional, and I think many of the posters in these threads agree.
