mcd manager wrote: To unknown 27: If they are so called "McDonald's" property then why do we have to buy our own stuff if we want extra? And why do they have children's clothes in there? So are you saying if we quit we have to give back all of the things we bought ourselves and our children? I've bought my son quite a few t-shirts from there and I'm sure they wouldn't care to have those back. They only make u give back the things they issued to you which should be the button ups. Chill out man! Employees don't buy their own uniforms. That's a prohibited practice.

Unknown27 wrote: <quoted text> Employees don't buy their own uniforms. That's a prohibited practice. Uggh. They are issued 2 shirts when they start manager or crew. If u feel like washing that many times a week then go right ahead. I simply chose not to and bought more OUT OF MY PAYCHECK. I have 19 shirts total hanging in my closet right now 15 of which I payed for myself. The other 4 are my 2 manager shirts they supplied me and my two crew trainer shirts from before then. Your crazy if you think I'm going to turn in $150.00+ worth of clothes that I paid for back to the company when I quit. They couldn't be less worried about those uniforms anyways. I understand you are stubborn and sticking to your story but its really not that serious. Who in their right mind would want to wear that uniform anyways outside of work? I would gladly give them to another manager when quit. Being a certified BSM, ASM mgr and department manager if it was that serious we would've already been hearing about this. The only thing we do have to give back are the free ones that were issued to us. So, I bought a pair of slip resistant shoes..are those property of McDonald's too? I'm just curious as to your opinion. And from the smilemakers catalog I bought my son a "licensed" McDonald's T-shirt ..what about that? I don't know what kind of restaurant you're running but I'm surprised no one has called corporate on you and your so called business. Good day!

iv'e also bought my own uniforms because they only give you 2 shirts, so when i quit or whatever i'll also be selling my uniforms because i payed for them myself, if you couldent sell em they wouldent let you buy em in the first place or at least offer to buy em back, if you paid for them then legaly there yours, sell em if you want to

If the rules are the same internationally, how come in the US you can get mcgrittles and in australia you cant? In some euro mcd's you can get beer, in australia you cant?
policies change country to country, example, at my store we get our first uniform free, after that, we do need to pay and those ARE ours to keep. We return the one they paid for.
I know, i because i just baught a second uniform and it was 10 dollars just for a new name badge, so dont act as if ones stores policies are the same for all, and pull your head out of your ass.

What about buying OLD uniforms that aren't in use anymore? That should be alright. I am looking for the old McDonald's Canada uniforms that are blue and gray from the year 2005. Cintas is the company that makes them. If anyone has those please contact me: mcdssjd at aol dot com. I really REALLY want these certain ones!

Mr. unknown27. I feel like you don't fully understand how big business runs. I highly doubt the Mcdonalds execs could give a flying **** about a uniform or two.
*More importantly i am also looking for a Mcdonalds worker uniform for a film costume. How much do they go for on the black market (so to speak...). or is there a company i can just buy them from without owning my own Macd's chain?
Thanks.

Provided you paid for it, completely legal to own and wear. Don't mind Unknown27 or take hime seriously, he's proved himself a fraud many many times on this forum.

It's still doubtful that you even work for McDonalds. Your IP pings from the Canadian Dept Of Defence. So you either work there, or you are using an illegal proxy. Which is it?

Lmao. 2 years of thread activity. Is that a record? I was employed for McDonald's for 5 years, and upon leaving, was NOT asked to return my uniform. I was told I could do with it as I wished. Recently, I was asked to return, and upon my agreeing to do so, was asked if I still had them, thereby saving them the trouble of ordering more. I was expressly told to do what I wanted with them. I was never told to return them, or told I would be prosecuted under the law for not doing so haha. Believe me, I worked there 5 years, and no one cares if you keep them. They order bulk uniforms every 6 months, there are plenty to go around. When you budget per annual quarter, you budget for uniforms too.

Boy-o-boy! this has been the funniest thread I've read in a long time. Yet after 2 years of rambling back and forth, lovinit's post is the first to actually provide a useful answer.
