I work at a Mcdonald's in Oregon, ohio. The people there are so stupid. The Store manager and district managers are only about themselves. Don't give a shit about the crew. Might as well tell us that we suck.

@ Shelly,
I use to work at that McDonald's. quit about 6 months ago. The district manager is a jerk all about himself, store manager too. Only care about their bonuses and themselves. Lame ass rewards and prizes they give to the crew people. Your right they don't give a crap about the crew people. I feel like we are in Kindergaten. That place is corrupt, especially when Michael Fowler was store manager there. He really screwed things up. Not to mention he sexually harrassed other male employees. Michael Fowler was the Jerry Sandusky of our McDonald's.

I have been working there for about a month now and I like it and hate it. There are some good things about it, but the bad might just outweigh the good.
Oftentimes, I'm expected to work 9 hours strait in a hot environment without a break. It's not that I particularly need to rest, but I do need to eat.

It's odd how a food establishment would overlook the fact that their employees need food.We are human after all. I take medication that my body doesn't respond well with on an empty stomach. I don't think it's safe for me to be dizzy and nauseous while working with hot oil. I told them this, but the manager doesn't care.
I don't think a few minutes to quickly eat something is asking too much. It's not like I want to eat during a rush. They have enough employees to cover for some one on break. I'm not the only one either. One lady there is diabetic. I hope she doesn't get sick from lack of food. The main reason why they don't let you have a break is if they get too busy during non peak times, which are normally designated for breaks. During peak times they have a thing called lock down and employees are figuratively chained to their station and can't leave it no matter what. That can be counterproductive when you have nothing to do at the moment and there are 10 customers waiting too long for their orders while you are forced to stand there and do nothing while they stare at you wondering why your not helping to get their order for them.
Sorry for the rant, but I needed to vent.

Wow. You're a jerk. Maybe some people are overweight because of genetics or some kind of health thing. At this point I am a little overweight due to just having a baby 2 months ago. But that should be no reason to lose a job at mcdonalds.

What is the problem with people working there when they're past 20? Simply because you didn't like it does not mean that there is the chance for people to do well there.
So what if it were an eight hour shift? Those shifts are everywhere in the working world, and managers will sometimes get up to 12 hour shifts. An eight hour shift is nothing to complain about.
The meat is just fine for everyone. It is only on the grill for a short period of time so that it can be quickly cooked and delivered to the customer while it's still hot and fresh. The meat IS cooked... it's not like it's still raw and dangerous.
The person who "yelled" at you has every right to be angry with you. He DID pay for you - he paid for you to be there to learn everything, he paid the Trainer who taught you, and he paid for everything that was required for you to start working there.
You need to stop badmouthing McDonald's simply because you can't handle it.

Hey I was just wondering, are recipes for burgers at Mcdonalds identical across the world?

Im in New Zealand, to make a cheese burger, we have
reg bun
10:1 meat
pickle
cheese
reconstructed onions
ketchup
mustard
reg heel

for quater pounder we have,
quater bun
cheese
4:1
cheese
fresh onions
pickles
ketchup
mustard
quater heel

Is this the same as in your country?

Im 17 and i've been working there for 2 months, I fucking hate the shit out of it but hey, everyones gotta get some job experience somehow right!

btw, Even though working there sucks balls,
you have to agree that the company has incredible management (considering it's a global franchaise) and incredible marketing innovation skills. The entreprenuerial side of Mcdonalds is impressive.
Also, if you worked in an asian restaurant, you will realise that mcdonalds is VERY clean and food is of very high quality in terms of hygiene

it all depends on the manager, if the manager is good the shift will run smoothly, if the manager is crap then the shift will be crap. I have personally witnessed this, if the crew dont like the manager or the manager talk to people like they are stupid, when in all actuality they sound like the fucked up ass moron, and they expect to get good numbers, they usually fall flat on their face and makes people wonder how they got their position in the first place. bottom line is manage the shift dont try to complicate stuff thats not complicated thats what lawyers are for.

I honestly love/hate Mcdonalds. Granted, I have been only working for about 1 1/2 months, so I can't say I have been working for a long time, but I think I can sum up my experience. It really depends who you work with, if you work with people you love, you won't even notice the work and hours you spend, it flies by. But if you work with boring, tired, ppl who hate their jobs, you feel the same. TRUST ME. Thats all I gotta say. Peace.

if they even half as much time on their food quality as they do on their advertising and commercialization then they would have the best food in the world.

p.s. if an employee brings in food from another restaurant to eat on their break, even if no customers can see it, McDonalds makes them throw it out. Not everyone wants to eat their crap everyday.
Sure they give you free food, but if you eat it daily you will gain weight. What if I want subway?

See www.mcdonalds.ca

What makes our company great is that a Quarter Pounder in Australia is the same as a Quarter Pounder in Canada.

We spend an enormous amount of time and money on food quality. We use prime cuts of meat and the best fruits and vegetables. Can't get any better than that.
p.s. if an employee brings in food from another restaurant to eat on their break, even if no customers can see it, McDonalds makes them throw it out. Not everyone wants to eat their crap everyday.

B.S. That's illegal. If you want to go buy a bag of chips or a sub that's your business. If anyone from McDonald's throws your food out or tells you you're not allowed to eat it, laugh in their face, demand they pay you for the food they ruined, and file a human rights complaint.

The quality of the food and the integrity of the supply chain is second to none.

It may not be the right thing to throw away food, but the owner has the right to refuse anyone from bringing food into his/her restaurant esp. if it is a competitor.

Ok for all of you bashing mcdonalds please understand that mcdonalds is a franchised company, meaning that area to area, region to region, will be somewhat different in terms of starting wages, uniform appearance, etc. It's fairly easy to move up through the ranks (I got swing manager after about 4 months), but i must agree that the hours can be horrible and can feel like you arent making enough money for all the shit you go through, but at other times it can be pretty awesome. Just consider it a lesson in life with all its ups and downs, just stick it out and youll see light at the end of the tunnel. As for the rude customers, just have fun with them! Reply over the DT speaker in a funny, or slightly mocking voice without being rude and chances are they wont even say anything to you when they pull up to pay. Even if they threaten to file a complaint on you it wont get very far as "tone of voice" isnt a viable complaint and you more than likely wont hear anything of it again. For all of you thinking about a carrer or just a part time job through mcdonalds just remember these wise words from my former store manager: its only sandwiches, the world is a dick, and the sun will rise tomorrow. Good luck, have fun, and God bless.

I'm 17 and have worked there for almost a year. I started on grill which was hard at first but I eventually got the hang of it and now it's simple. I son got really bored of grill and asked my managers to let me try front counter. Big mistake. I now do front counter all the time, it stresses me out and I usually make mistakes with the confusing cash register, resulting in cranky old people yelling at me and humiliating me in front of my co-workers and other customers. Thank god most of my managers are really nice and I've made friends with some of the other employees. I'm ready to quit soon only because I just feel so incompetent being at the front and get nervous stomach aches the day before, hoping I don't get the regular mean customers. I guess I'm really too sensitive when it comes to criticizing at the extreme. But it is a good first job to have. Good luck!

rule 1: under no circumstances may you clock in earlier than the exact time you are scheduled. Rule 2: you may not take out your phone anywhere in the kitchen for any reason. Rule 3: you must follow exact cooking instructions, nothing out of protocol or else it's wrong. Rule 4: basically don't talk unless youre spoken to. Rule 5: food may not sit out for more than 1 minute. Rule 6: Do not do anything unless it's exact. 7. "multitasking" is your entire shift. 8. You may not eat any food or drink until your break. 9. do not put meat garbage anywhere except the meat bin. Other garbages are null and void, not worthy of mcmeat scraps. 10. dont do anything unless it's approved by everyone. Even then it's probably wrong. 11. If you can't handle the exact task you are "not getting it." 12. Be sure to be as rude, condescending, and unhelpful as possible. Also, you must have 17 year olds and/or bitter women to be managers.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
