Rather than demolish the "old" building, why didn't they consider renovating it? I thought recycling was in; that should apply to structures as well. To tear down nearly 145,000 sq. ft. is ludicrous. Surely, someone with a brain could have developed a plan to reuse such an enormous space. What a waste! I wonder what the original costs tallied when the structure was first built?

Usually its cheaper to demolish and easier to create a new layout when you don't have an existing building that you need to work around with. We don't know the condition of the structure and if it met current earthquake standards.

Westfield- I saw a report on tv- about a bank in some little country- that kept all of its members Secret. Basically you could hide money here and no one would know. Somehow- a discruntled employee or one of its computer techs- copied data- a list of all the people who hid money there. He then gave the list to the US Government/IRS. And guess who was hiding money here... The Westfields. The IRS is looking at other famous people who were found on this list.

Macy's has way too many stores. I already cool to shopping there of their sameness everywhere. But when they got rid of Chicago's Marshall Field's, my favorite place to shop when I traveled, I made up my mind to never shop Macy's again.
Macy's is same-o-same-o everywhere at high prices.

West Covina Westfield has pretty much gone down the drain. I remember when the mall was expanded, they had some real nice stores, it was nice and clean, then all of sudden all these stores disappeared. Now you have like a gazillion shoe stores, a huge empty space which was steve and barry's, the mall is dirty, and there's nothing worthwhile there anymore. It doesn't even come close to what it use to be, especially if you compare it to other malls in the area, Arcadia (westfield) or victoria gardens, even the montclair mall. They should change the name to West covina Westfield Ghettotown.

Hope the redevolpment is designed with safety in mind. Too many gangsters and wannabes hang in the area, and all the other problems with Crazyhorse in the area too. Hope it works out,,,,,,,,,,but I still don't think I am going to patronize the area. Only as a last resort.

I wrote my comment before I read the other comments. There seems to be a general concensus about the quality of the idea and location. Westfield's at West Covina, knows the substandard atmosphere exists, but then again, they probably targeting another source of consumers---the misinformed, no other choices nearby.

Not any more. If, and that's a big if, I go there, I feel like the token white girl. This whole area has gone down the shitter.
