I wonder what natural gas would cost if we could drill for our own in the proven reserves in America.
If you don't like the high prices of energy you can ask yourself, would more be better then less, would more energy supply lower the cost, and which political party stands in the way of any and all new development of our energy sources. Drill here Drill now |

Wow. A picture of a gas filter. How exciting. But then most people couldn't recognize the meter if it bit them.
To align their rates to PG&E, they're raising money for Pittsburg off of Vallejo's back, and not passing along their big tax breaks. Municipal utilities are exempted from most of the taxes PG&E has to pay, so Pittsburg is pocketing the difference. Thanks! |

the rates would not drop much if at all. the cost of drilling then putting on line would cause the rates to stay the same or slightly lower to recop the cost of the drilling. face it, once prices get up, if they do go down, it is little. as for the anwr drilling bit, they talked of that in the 80's and said it would take years to see benifits. they continued to say that every few years. so from 1980 to present, all talk, no action and as usual, congress just makes noise and does nothing. if they had oked drilling, many fields would be producing years ago. the name of the game has been use up all of the other countries oil then we have it all. to off set the high cost now, we need to charge oil countries prices for food that is equal or higher then theor oil. if they don't like it, let them drink oil with their fried camel. |

It is estimated the there is approx. 200 billion barrels of oil under American soil. At $135 a barrel that's a lot of money, enough to pay the debt, the defecit, fund SSI, and give all the welfare people a raise, a democrat win win.
Will we have to continue to pay higher prices for our own oil while the democrat congress fiddles. Drill here Drill now |

Yes, the previous incompetent leadership of the City of Vallejo handed over to another city its utility business, so now development in Vallejo is controlled by the City Council of the City of Pittsburg. Makes sense, doesn't it?!
What was going on with past City Councils in Vallejo? Were they all just stupid? Were they all on drugs? Were they all being paid off? The number of, and onerous consequences of, the decisions and actions made by those people is simply remarkable. They literally gave the City of Vallejo away. These actions derive from one of two things: rank incompetence on a colossal scale. Or rank corruption in which the individuals were paid off to make such decisions. I continue my call for U.S. Department of Justice investigations into the City Councils past in Vallejo; there needs to be a deep investigation into their activities and, among other things, such an investigation MUST include forensic accountants. The City of Vallejo |

I call on the Times-Herald to dig into the City Council votes on the transfer of the electric/gas utility to the City of Pittsburg, and the City Council votes on the approvals of the union contracts that have driven the City to bankruptcy.
We should get the City Council member names and their individual votes; this should be in the public records at City Hall. We're takin' names and numbers. Then we're callin' the DoJ. |

Former Mayor Intintoli was at the helm when this deal was cut. I do not recall who was on the council at this time, but I do remember people talking about Island Energy getting the rights for a dollar a year or something like that. It seems that early on, Vallejo was smacking their lips over an exclusive 1500 home development on MI that is not here yet and may never be. But Lennar has PLANS, that's for sure. Don't bank on the TH doing any digging into this. You won't find anyone on staff or at Lennar that hasn't lost their memory about 1996 and don't expect much cooperation from same to provide documents. I would like to see a DOJ investigation as well, but to be honest, I think it may just be colossal ineptitude from a few councils back. This one hasn't made much of a peep about Lennar yet either. |

Oil is not natural gas. Most of CA's power comes from natural gas, hydro or nuke. Drilling for oil won't help electricity prices or natural gas prices. Increasing oil production in the US to help the price is like trying to kill an elephant with a toothpick. There simply isn't enough oil left in the US to make a difference. China lowered their subsidy to let the price of gasoline go from $3.00 to $3.50 a gallon, which dropped the price of a barrel of oil by $4.00. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/21/business/wo... It's estimated that offshore drilling will reduce the price of gas by $0.06 a gallon, in about 10-20 years. So, if Chinese increase of $0.50 a gallon shaves $4.00 off a barrel of oil, what real impact can our efforts make? But we'll up our own production trying to squeeze oil out of a turnip, without changing our thinking. Requires less effort than figuring out how to make a car run off turnip juice. ;) |

the amount of energy that the USA exports is rising, do you think any of your USA energy companies will maintain or lower prices because of a new "find" in any type of energy, NO. vote republican even more!!!

Does this story suprise anyone? It should not. This is just one of many poor decicions our city councils in the past and present have made.
Apparently our current council is still making those stupid decisions. It is call bankruptcy. Quote from Gomes, "bankruptcy will not hurt the schools". Take another look sweetheart. Parents are taking kids out of Vallejo schools by the hundreds. Major loss of dollars to the schools next year. Eat some more peanuts darling. |
|
Gloria Exline was the mayor when the decision was made. She was mayor from 12/1995 to 12/1999. The shipyard closed in April 1996.
|
|
The decline in school attendance is due to the forclosures....and that was happening long before bankruptcy was filed. Try to find something else to blame on Gomes as this seems to be your fixation. |
|
Oh yes, Ms. Exline, the dream girl for the PSU's. A council majority that was funded by the unions. What canyou say. That funded majority has been in control of this city for too long. Time for a change. No more PSU puppets. |

OK open Government how about no water front development, Fight for Bankruptcy, no new business, improper relations with an other council member ( causing a conflict of interest). We can go on and on.

Don't be an IDIOT. Of course there are other factors, however bankruptcy (when it does not need to be filed) will hurt Vallejo in many different ways. The schools is just one area. Now, pay attention. Do your homework. Listen in class. Get my point? |

Now we are talking. Someone is paying attention. This is one of many faults with current and past city council members. |

They never should have bought a home on Mare Island, at least not from Lennar.
